Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

i have two bosses. one's pretty cool but like most engineers he doesn't articulate things well... he just holes himself in his office and leaves me on my own to figure things out

my other boss takes care of the business side of things and he's a huge prick. he's getting up there in age and starting to slip away mentally. i'm really worried now his wife is about to croak that he'll always be at work hassling me over asinine things ... there's literally no need for him to be there... when you whittle it all down he does nothing but get in the way

Had a huge bitch boss for the last two years. Got shuffled around and now my boss is fucking awesome.

Leaves me alone and lets me do my work
Listens to advice I have to give him
Likes to bullshit in his office with me for a good two to four hours a day
Swears like a sailor
Funny
Awesome at guitar
Hates his job
Let me leave at 3:00 on Friday, 2:00 on Wednesday

Having a cool boss is the difference between absolutely hating your life and actually coming home happy.

i just recently quit my job because of a huge prick of a boss.

he's the kind of guy who feels at home asking you to work extra shifts, cover for someone, work more hours or do other things that require your goodwill and consent, and then absolutely forget all about it the next day and lash out at your ass for the dumbest reasons. not a very rational person. very impulsive, childish. vengeful.

this was all managable as long as we stayed out of each other's sight, but the worst thing was the way he'd relentlessly disregard me and many other employees in favor of a couple of guys who have been working there longer, which meant consistently bad shifts and assignments, etc

capitalism sucks

He's a chauvinistic, racist asshole who hates my guts.

His boss however is quite fond of me, so it kind of evens out.
