Obviously they didn't play THE best defense, but they beat the hell out of Baltimore, had no real problem with the Patriots, or Kansas City... And let's face it, it isn't like they squeaked by against other mid-tier defenses. They completely annihilated a bunch of defenses out there. Just trashed them.
This was a mental breakdown on their end. And that was met with some insanely hard hits and planned attacks on the ball. Seattle's offense also responded very well when they had possession. That defense is a blueprint for how you absolutely wreck shit though. |

Baltimore hasn't had a good defense in years. LOL Patriots, that defense has been completely decimated by injuries and wasn't all that great to begin with. Kansas City was good early on this season but by the time they started to play Denver they had lost their steam and had piled up some key injuires.
Denver did face nothing but mid-tier defenses as best. They have not faced anything like a defense as good as Seattle before tonight. |

also the lack of legit defenses says a lot about the NFL, and can't really be a reflection on Denver or Manning

I think Seattle just made them look ordinary and in disarray. Too much pressure on Manning, too fast, hard hits early on, and the turnovers... God the turnovers.
And the special teams. |

Exhibit A for how you build a defense that can compete in today's pass-happy NFL. As much as I loathe Pete Carroll (way to jump ship when the shit was about to hit the fan at USC, you little bitch), he's gotten it right in Seattle. The days of a quality NFL defense being built around a great front seven and an okay secondary are over. In the modern NFL, it's pretty much the opposite of that. You need a front seven that can create just enough havoc and a defensive backfield filled with studs that can run, cover, and tackle with the best of them.
P.S.: I will never get sick of watching the GIF of that botched snap to start the game. P.P.S.: Bruno Mars sucks. |

Once they went into their bye they lost all steam on defense. In their last 8 games after the bye (including their playoff game) they played like shit in 7 of them with the one exception being a terrible Redskins offense who they held to 10 points. The top two defenses in the AFC were the Bengals and Chiefs but if they played in the NFC I don't think either would end up in the top 5 defenses in that conference. Maybe the Bengals but even then that's doubtful and the Broncos haven't played the Bengals. |

i think the afc is lacking in talent compared to the nfc, and also the fact that i'm pretty sure most of these teams are crap
honestly this last season was pretty sad |

It's sad when the Patriots basically lacked any weaponry for Brady but still crawled out on top of the shit pile AFC. ![]() Last edited by duovamp : 02-03-2014 at 04:09 PM. |

On the plus side the Stillers look like they might be half decent in 2014. I'm fully prepared for a boring-ass draft pick.
Or Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. |

I feel worse for him than I ever did for Tom Brady, that's for sure. I kind of like Peyton.

meanwhile, in the AFC cincinatti wins a division even though their QB sucks and san diego is a wild card
KC is a great example of a team that may go 10-6 at best in the NFC but was undefeated for weeks playing the AFC |

Look at KC's first 9 opponents (and keep in mind they got the Eagles before they figured their shit out). They were a good story but come on. They got extremely lucky to play those 9 in a row. Not discounting the great start. But context is important.

yeah no doubt dude, all i was saying is that they were at full-strength when they first played Denver. Not calling them a great defense, they were good at best.

As much of a blowout as that game was, I still found watching the Seahawks defense to be really entertaining. Which I think is saying something. or maybe not who knows

it is refreshing to see a team in the NFL who play legitimate defense like that. Seattle almost makes it an art form
