i know you two will remain friends and stuff (i assume)

so i just hope you both get what you want. if this isn't going to last, it just isn't. it doesn't seem like some kind of blow up or anything, you just don't feel it and i don't think there is anything wrong with that

i do wonder why you guys got married if you were never really into it 100%, but i suppose that doesn't really matter.

i'm probably the last guy who should give life advice but as somebody whose seeing alot of late 20s/early 30s marriages fizzle out, alot of them didn't live together beforehand. i would think it's best next time to shack up a good 6-12 months beforehand, just to test things out. or thats what i'm going to do when i meet the right woman (which is pretty LOL, but a hypothetical)

You can't meet the right woman until you work to make yourself into the right man

Just something to think about

we discussed the prospect of a trial separation and going to couples therapy once a week, but i came to the conclusion that no trial separation of any length or therapy of any kind was going to help me make the decision.

to continue the relationship without making an emotional commitment has the same material consequences as purposefully leading her on. and a commitment needs to be made either way. so instead of committing to the idea of staying (impossible), i committed to the idea of leaving.

i think it's for the better. we have no children, we're still relatively young. there was no right time to fire this cannon.
I am pretty much in the same situation except I'm more of a coward and haven't left yet. So, you could be shittier.

the most important question is how old are you both, and does she still stand a chance to meet someone else and\or have a kid (assuming she wants to have one)

people break up and that's fine but if she spent most of her adult life with you and 'cemented her fate' it's kind of a different story

we have been married less than two years and we are in our late twenties.

it's not too late for anything.

it almost seems like divorce nowadays is more common than folks actually staying together

the most important question is if you are leaving her now after she has withered away and no longer able to bear fruit of her loins, the only purpose of a woman

i despise the fact that everybody thinks they need to have children so the sarcasm is spot on

but most people seem to find this subject extremely important.
so from that point of view i was trying to see if bonsoir has that reason to feel so shitty about himself
