so cassie's killer ended up being the boyfriend... who is also vogel's son. this is just really lazy writing. there were similar leaps of logic in season 1 where deb's bf and happened to be the ice truck killer AND dexter's brother, but at least that character was developed with more screen time and there was a more logical explanation of how all the pieces fell together like that.

i do like that the heat is finally coming down on dexter. but its just all unfolding in a lame way through the prism of this whole vogel/mckay arc ... its like they saved the worst for last

It hasn't been revealed just why the brain surgeon got so close to dexter (dating his neighbor), and I really hope it's not just some coincidence or an after the fact thing (he read Vogel's notes and just spied on her and followed dexter home or some such).

even if it was a "plan" to date his neighbor (i'm guessing that's what the writers are going for) that's still pretty ham fisted. "i'm going to date somebody in that apartment complex, by running into her on the street or something, and maybe in some way they're acquainted" ... i mean, it works in the end i guess. but its just a really lame whodunnit

the beginning of this last season of dexter was very promising... like the first 3 episodes. then back into snoozeville. they forgot how to make people give a shit about the characters.

well if he was surveying dexter, he could have just noticed who the neighbor was, and noticed that they had dinner together and then made a plan to "run into her"

even though the ice truck killer was obvious and whatever, at least he had a connection to deb in the first place, and they all spent time together at that house, and stuff like that. you grew to knew the character.

all of these random know them for half a season and then they die is really stupid. i don't care about any of these characters.

alot of the plots like this and of the latter seasons are fine at face value. problem is they cram it all in there. its like the writers are stenographers

totally agree. the plot with whatever his name was, the dexter-in-training, could have been fine... if they showed dexter really showing him the code, over a season or two, and then all of a sudden dexter finds him dead... that would be a good plot. but we knew him for like 4 episodes.

it's funny, i always assumed the opposite.
