My favorite film of all time. It just gets better with repeat viewings; the match-cuts, sight gags, little in-jokes and references to Shaun Of The Dead are amazing, Edgar Wright truly is a brilliant director.

"Lola Versus"

Kind of like a less well written episode of "Girls" combined with formulaic 20 something romantic comedy plot devices. A 90 minute movie that feels like two hours.

i forgot about this. will put it on the list.

as far as the movie goes i really liked it. couldn't stop laughing and there were a lot of moments that had me going "woah". this refers to the gory scenes. i thought they were tasteful and had the cool quick-cut effect that a b-grade movie would have, instead of a professional makeup and costume crew that would milk a decapitation shot for 3 minutes or more. as far as the history of film goes - terrible movie. but i liked it ok. jeremy renner plays a hilariously clueless drunk who keeps falling ass backwards into witches.

lesson learned - if you suspend a witch in the air she can't cast magic

also it had to be the worst 3D i've ever seen in a movie. i don't know if it was because the screen wasn't imax or what but i walked out of the theater with a terrible headache
I have the perfect solution to your 3D problem: Stop going to see films in 3D!!!! It's fucking shit and enhances the movie going experience 0%.

i think it's an underappreciated gem. i mean it's terry gilliams mad genius, some truly warped shit like the spiderhorse vore and the child with no face and some pretty amusing performances from Matt Damon, Heath Ledger and Jonathan Pryce. The concept of Brothers Grimm being paranormal investigators is silly, but the movie is just self aware enough for it to be a funny concept and not so self aware to be winking at the camera the whole time.

and monica bellucci hnngghh

Netflix is great for re-watching movies you haven't thought about in years.

Hellraiser I - ?
The Hellraiser series was my go-to horror franchise when I was younger. Sadly it doesn't hold up. At least the cheap 80ies slasher effects are still glorious.

Rain Man - B
I definitely remember this film being sadder, I definitely do.

The Game - B+
Best Michael Douglas movie, worst Sean Penn film.

Kind of surprised Janet Leigh did such a low budget film after her role in Psycho.

Saw World War Z.

The book, for those that don't know, is a Studs Terkel-esque novel that involves a guy going around the world interviewing people, both ordinary and political/military, about the socio-political ramifications of a zombie apocalypse about a decade after it is resolved. It is smart, exciting and a fresh take on the genre, which, let's face it, has been done to death. It's a book that doesn't lend itself easily to adaptation to the big screen (there's really no plot or central character; it's basically a series of interviews), but if done right, it could have been interesting.

The movie is just a generic pseudo-intelligent pseudo-blockbuster with little if any of what made the book interesting. Brad Pitt is a plank of wood in the movie. This movie should have been a Ken Burns-style documentary, not yet another run-for-your-life apocalypse movie. Huge disappointment.

D

Seriously, how does WWZ have a 74% Top Critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes? I honestly haven't been as thoroughly bored by a movie in ages. And people on here tell me my taste in movies sucks...

The Walking Dead is at least decent at times, though no one will/should mistake it for a great work of television.

WWZ (which should be renamed Brad Pitt's Greasy Hair Saves The Day) is just a snoozer.

I'd say it's gone further than that. The genre is much like the undead it depicts; shambling, unrelenting and after your brains.

i rented that james franco Oz movie lastnight. i expected to enjoy it on an ironic level but it was so bad i just turned it off, which has never happened... "movie night" for me is kind of a hallowed thing and i stick with whatever i'm watching regardless of how bad it is so i can forget about work and stuff. but it was just awful

a shame... i've read the books and there's a deep well to draw from. but instead the movie just tried to ape the 1939 movie as if nothing "oz" ever existed outside of that. it could've been a really cool and dark fantasy franchise

Dark Shadows was a bit better than i expected. kind of lost me when barnaby started killing people... really fucked with the overall tone of the movie. i don't know if that was in line with the tv show which i never watched

could've been alot better. not sure what burton is smoking these days
