The old thread was removed for some reason, I think it was because people were simply posting what they've watched recently with an accompanying grade without any discussion.

watched on the weekend:

joan rivers: a piece of work. p coll!
dirty girl: cute movie. milla jovovich actually wasn't horrible.
the paperboy: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. best comedy of 2012. instant camp classic.
gatsby: horrible. the costumes & makeup & scenery were wonderful but the acting wasn't great, the modern music was jarring and it was fucking long.

We saw Gatsby last night. Going into it knowing that it was going to be over the top and creative liberties we're going to be taken, I really enjoyed it. Some parts were obviously campy but it did the job of entertaining.

I'm partial to the little known remake done in 2000 w Paul Rudd, for accuracy but this was pure entertainment and flash.

I'm holding out for Man of Steel. This visuals for that film look stunning. It has this dark moody look that hopefully will erase the bad taste of the campy original film series and Superman Returns.

Watched guilt trip and that was a bad idea. Watched silver linings playbook which wasn't bad and the main actress is incredibly attractive. Same girl from the hunger games but she doesn't look 12. Also saw devil's in the details with ray liotta garbage movie. Saw a haunted house, the new wayans movie. Silly of course but some of the best jokes I've seen in a mocie in a while

Ray Liotta was in that Brad Pitt film Killing Them Softly that came out last year. That was a great film. A unique take on gangster films. Between Killing Them Softly, Jesse James, and Inglourious Basterds Brad Pitt has done some amazing work in recent years.

Jack reacher was pretty sweet but seemed like it was just another excuse for tom cruise to look awesome for a coupla hours.

Shallowed, did you finally watch The Big Lebowski, too?

Went to the Gatsby screening yesterday - meh, rather disappointing. I'm with pale_princess on this one, looked like several people even fell asleep.

Fruitvale Station, Ryan Coogler's first feature film, is just incredible.
In other words: WATCH IT.
Sadly the first trailer doesn't say anything at all about the movie.

I don't know what to think about Gatsby. Not much depth to the story, more flashy scenes and costumes. I think I liked his Romeo + Juliet better.
