well first, i do not condone torture of any sort and i don't think it's "cute" or "funny" that you'd even suggest it as "justice"

A) We disagree. No biggie.
B) Born in Boston, spent years there, have tons of friends and family there.
C) Knew three people running (My cousin actually, he finished way before the bombing). Had a friend (whom i met online, no less) who attended the dead girl's wedding. Deeply personal.
D) Those assclowns just put up 18-22 hour shifts and run toward gunfire/bombs. Sure some are worthless, but there are badass people who wear those uniforms (in any city, mind you). Same thing in West.

expending 200 rounds on a 19 year old who eluded capture is not successful police work. in fact, it seems mostly like a bunch of assholes shooting guns because they have permission to.

if navy seals can take out pirates with three shots on, what was it, 10 foot swells? from a half mile away, how is 200 rounds for one teenager and not catching him considered "good work"?

even if people i knew were killed, i wouldn't pretend like personal revenge was necessary against the person what done it. it's not going to bring anyone back, it's not going to make anyone actually feel safer and it's not going to prevent others from doing it. it's just selfish violence.

obviously, it's important that we catch these people so we can find answers and flush out cells, to try and prevent it happening again. That's the purpose. It's not for revenge. revenge is fuckin gross and selfish.

i have a hard time finding the words for exactly why i feel like people making this PERSONAL who aren't even involved in it, either because it's "their city" or whatever or just because they think it's necessary to publicly posture like that is so obnoxious, maybe someone can help me out

Some people care, have emotions, tied into a city. I am proud. When someone messes with your pride, it becomes personal. People react differently to disasters, manmade or natural.

And re: police. About 56 hours after the first bomb went off, both suspects aren't walking around. Not that bad, despite the guy getting a block outside perimeter today. Those guys deserve a duck parade. Fenway and the Garden will be crazy tomorrow.

No motive known yet. The dead guy supposedly is the bad one, the crazy loner.

They both were at school Tuesday and Wednesday like normal. They thought they could get away with it. Then they were fucking around at MIT (who knows why, maybe for chemicals), got caught, killed a cop, hijacked a car and threw grenades at cops.

They are Chechens, no idea if they are followers or whatever of any militant Chechen group/political wing. That's a crazy-ass place. Their dad's interview today was insane too (he is in Russia),

Thanks, I have only Canadian radio at work and read Reuters.

I'm familiar with the history of Chechnya, but apparently they've been living in the US for years, so with no information on a motive or even how many people were involved in planning this thing, I for one can't see a straight connection between the bombing and their nationality.
