I talked to my psychologist tonight about how being here is stopping me from being authentic in my real life because every day somebody asks me what I've been doing and I'm too embarrassed to say oh I posted some messages at an online forum so I lie. Not good.

Just lying to cover for myself, so I do say oh nothing or not much, and then mention things that I actually did do. People like my husband, the mums at school or playgroup, people at church on the weekend, there's always someone. but i would actually like to be able to say something that I'm proud of like oh I played piano or read a book or did some gardening or went to a museum.

that's funny vixnix, i think this place helps me. i talked about it a little in therapy today. i explained the people as "well, it's a smashing pumpkins forum, so obviously most of us grew up to be neurotic" and that most of us are over the pumpkins but we still have that tie that binds us and etc

she knows i post on this board, but when i first started seeing her i was embarrassed about my online activities. really all my activities. it was hard for me to talk about. would make me anxious to talk about working on wikipedia, this forum and another forum i was on, basically anything about myself seemed embarrassing.

I have a beautiful girlfriend, but she's a wonderful, smart person who looks beyond my morloch exterior. I don't have a fortune coming to me and I was still in college when we started dating (she just started her post grad program at the time). She's with me because we get along really well...
