Do you have anything against me other than that I don't think all porn is unequivocally evil?

What are your thoughts on Portlandia as a Portlander? (err Portlandian?)

What's the current status of your reevaluation of religion?

What's an MRA? (men's rights activist?)

Why did you take psych meds?

Finally why wouldn't you vote for prez if you were in a swing state, considering the possible impact on women's issues among their things?

Also Mulholland drive is definitely in my top 3 or 5 films (and I'm a massive film nerd) so O/

on a related note, what are the best places to eat in portland?
yeah I keep hearing they can go toe to toe with italy which is pretty impressive. it truly is amazing pizza. i would put it at or towards the top of best portland restaurants.

I'm really not qualified to give any definitive list but two places I have fond feelings for at the moment are Yen Ha which is a Vietnamese place on Sandy that is cheap and delicious and the best service ever, not centrally located at all, sadly really far away from my apartment. Another good place to go is Pied Cow right on SE Belmont. it's a coffee house/bar/hookah place in a Victorian house with really great outdoor seating and great/unique drinks. good food too, especially desserts.

I'm working toward a BFA, either a general one or I'm going concentrate in sculpture or painting, it depends where I get in and wind up going. I'll then probably go to grad school so that I can do the whole teaching thing and be able to work as a fine artist and show in galleries etc

McDonalds. they have a high level of quality control on all their drinks, the water purity and the syrup ratio and that sort of thing.

Have you ever posted your own work on here and if not would you mind posting an example?

not really besides the fact that you're a dude I suppose. I appreciate you not being so hysterical when dealing with differing opinions unlike a lot of people here.

it's okay. I don't watch it on a regular basis... I guess living here I find the whole culture kind of gross and annoying and I don't really like to think about it. it's like a Stuff White People Like kind of comedy. I will say that the feminist bookstore thing is totally inaccurate. they film that part at In Other Words which is a liberal pomo sex poz queer type feminist bookstore where angry manhating radicals are not particularly accepted (which is the norm in Portland and the entire Western world really). my friend is training to volunteer there though so maybe we can change that.

the religion thing is kind of hard to explain or talk about, especially here. I'll just say that I have a lot of positive feelings about religion in general, and I think New Atheism is the smuggest most backward thinking ever and its heroes are all douches.

MRA stands for Men's Rights Activist. basically these are people who think that men are really oppressed, who see society as a zero sum game and think that women have gotten too big for our britches. they're the types to say things like white or western women need to be exterminated because we are just too willfull and entitled, and then fetishize asian and latina women as subservient little wifey whores. they usually cite "anti-male bias" in custody trials, and compulsory military service, while completely ignoring the context in which these things happen.

I wouldn't vote for president because ultimately I think more women, American and otherwise, are being harmed by war and capitalism than by anti-abortion laws. we should have both but I'm not going to be blackmailed into voting for someone because of abortion access.

*\o

I snuck a drawing I had done that day into the art thread. it's really hard to document paintings and sculpture properly especially since I don't have a decent camera, but I'm gonna be working on that this fall.

I'd probably try it out and see if I could handle it before giving up on life

born in Denver, moved to Portland in elementary school, moved to NH for middle school, back to Portland when I was 13. so basically yeah I'm from here. I don't see any reason to think that Portland culture is a product of tourism though.

Do you have an allergy or are you sensitive to gluten?

Well do you have an allergic reaction or a gut reaction? If you're suspicious why not get a blood test done

Most people use the terms interchangeably but they're two very different reactions
