Nah, I wouldn't want to live another 200 years. I can't imagine society and what will be left of the planet to be a good place to live in 150 years. I mean I can imagine it, but it doesn't feel very realistic. I dunno, I see a first world with 7 year olds beating each other half dead over the newest future-i-phone, kids uploading their parents' sex live on youtube, and a smaller third world population, kept only alive to produce whatever is demanded and otherwise decimated with some invented virus.

pavement you seem to be thinking of things that are five years away rather than 150

What did/do your parents do?
What kind of music did you grow up listening to?
Who was/is your favourite composer to play on piano?
Do you prefer the beach or the mountains?
Favourite U.S. city?
Favourite Jewish holiday?
Did your family keep kosher?
Were you family pro Israel?

when i was growing up my mom worked at the sales office of an embroidery company that had the rights to a lot of college football logos and some television stuff. like when the nicktoons came out they had the opportunity to get in on the merchandising but turned it down and im sure regretted it. now they are out of business, my mom worked as a buyer for the OR at a local hospital for a while and then she had a mental breakdown and now she works at Costco
my dad worked at a carpet store, he basically ran the whole thing. it also went out of business and he is unemployed and has been since like 2009

i grew up listening to stuff like the mamas and the papas and the eagles and billy joel and elton john, basically music my dad liked. he's a pianist and could have made it a career if he wanted to. my sister is a music therapist but also could have made a career as a performing flutist if she had desired. i like to think i could have also played guitar as my career in some form and it got ruined for shitty reasons but maybe i'm just being a crybaby

i never got into piano enough at an age i remember to answer the composer question. it was my first instrument but by the time i was like 10 i was over it as it was used to pin my sister and i against each other and we both just stopped playing. started drums/percussion in 6th grade so... age 11? and then guitar a year or so later

i prefer the beach i guess. there are no mountains really anywhere close to where i live, florida is completely flat, i mean i literally live like 1000 miles from any sort of "mountains"... so i guess i cant say

i dont really have a favorite US city... asheville was cool

i guess my favorite holiday is passover. jewish holidays were just times my relatives came over and as time went on and they all died my family stopped celebrating anything. if i didnt live in a high population jewish area i probably wouldnt even think about the holidays tbh. but ive started having some interest in them recently, for some reason... but i havent delved in yet

my family did not keep kosher but my parent's families did. my parents had me pretty late and by that time had both broken with that (and so had my grandparents) but i used to hear amusing stories of my mom trying shellfish for the first time in college

my family is not really pro anything. that would assume there was some communication of values and there really wasn't a lot of that in general. they are definitely not value focused like i am and i wonder how i even got this way. i have no idea if my mom would even consider herself pro israel and i honest to god doubt those kinds of thoughts ever even appear in my dad's mind. he's pretty aloof and weird

Do you believe in fate?

Semi-related: is sickness the punishment of the gods?

i don't believe in fate as in things are predetermined, but i do believe people have untapped aptitudes and that if they did do something, they may be "fated" to be talented at it. like for example, using this terminology, i may have been fated to be a good guitarist, but i still had to take the step to pick up the instrument. so my answer is probably no, if you use a simple classic definition

there are no gods

it varies a lot. i can usually get cleaning supplies free or close to it, so i buy whatever i can that's on sale and stock up on it. right now i have a lot of scrubbing bubbles disinfectant spray and target brand wipes. i use general pine-sol for the floors, using a wet jet knockoff mop

what do you mean by innate ideas? i think we all have an underlying symbolic framework that is cemented early in life, but i couldn't say if one would develop those same systems of meaning if they were somehow born alone on an island or something. i think stuff like symbols of time (sunrise/sunset, change of seasons, child/adult/elder etc) are fairly universal and would strike someone independently of anyone else or an absence of our normal systems of meaning. but i dont know, this is a good question.

to live a good life - courage, integrity, curiosity, depth of feeling, ability to integrate experiences of all kinds, generosity

add the ability to refine and redefine ideas for those intellectually inclined

if it meant certain death for one of the two, and you can only save one, and you have never met either, would you save the life of a newborn baby or a man in is early 30's with a wife and kids?
