RMoney will come unglued, Obama will stutter a little bit, and everyone will have tibits and soundbites to support their view and everyone will be outraged and Rush Limbaugh will say something even more vile and then Obama will win the election and then Rmoney will be a loser pee-pants.

70% of the time debates are a snooze fest. the other they can cast a few highlights, i.e. "there you go again..." "you, sir, are no jack kennedy" but there's little evidence it changes anything this far into the race.

assuming he doesn't bomb, i think it's good for obama since romney & co. seem to be going whole hog on 'benghazi-gate' and debate highlights will probably deflect from that for about a week's worth of news cycles

yeah who the fuck wants to watch this shit. It's funny cause in high school I thought people who didn't watch the debates were childish and ignorant for not caring, and now I don't really give a shit about these debates because it doesn't even matter, and ultimately amounts to a perfunctory sort of circus act in which everybody reaffirms their own beliefs and the two masterdebaters carefully sidestep any actual issues while making sure to reenforce the beliefs of people who have already made up their minds and flex their political muscles and pander to their lobbyists, it's asinine. everybody goes out of the way to make sure that nothing substantive is discussed so that the money keeps flowing in the right directions and nothing resembling a logical discussion is ever even slightly within reach. it is a commercial for the political brand that you've already aligned with disguised as actual political discourse, which we all know does not actually occur in America

I'm not that cynical, but I don't think either Obama or Romney are particularly good debaters. Same with Obama v. McCain four years ago. Kinda boring and both unlikely to say anything game changing or risky. Biden v. Palin was hilarious though because Palin looked like such a fucking backwoods simpleton. I'm similarly looking forward to Biden v. Ryan.

i think this is correct.

they'll both suck and the needle won't move at all.

unless of course romney actually tries out these zingers, in which case, hallelujah, this whole fucking thing will be finally over.

How many people will actually watch it? The impact of the post debate media nonsense will probably have more impact on undecided voters than the debate itself

How are people undecided at this point?

well they're basically correct. pretty meaningless.

i do think it could provide some worthwhile information for people who refuse to acknowledge that relevant differences actually exist though. i think those people already know that they exist though... so maybe not? i dunno.

It's all about trust for Romney
The winner of the election in November will be the man who emerges from the debates as the candidate voters trust more to handle the economy. FULL STORY

It tells you about the person moreso than the party or the policy. If the person can't flesh out sound reasoning behind his or her rationale then you get the impression the person behind that podium is a moron. I'd like to know whether or not I'm voting for a total idiot or a prick or a wuss or the kind of person who believes in laughable metaphysics or economic history.

Basically I think there's a decent bit the individual can glean from watching these debates. Let's also keep in mind nobody on this part of Netphoria is an undecided voter.

Watching the debates is like watching Nascar, most of the time you're bored, watching people driving in circles, but every once in a while there is a glorious wreck and it's all worth it.
