sigh

no

This year's elections are proceeding under different, interim maps developed by a separate federal court in San Antonio. Those interim maps are not directly affected by the decision, though Texas redistricting expert Michael Li says the San Antonio court could use the D.C. ruling as an impetus to adjust the interim maps between now and Election Day, which is just 10 weeks away.

the whole process is extremely complicated and that sucks. but it is that way because of the way minority voters were systematically disenfranchised before the VRA. i have a whole text book about it i can send you if you want.

i don't see how you think this isn't obviously a case for a complete electoral reform but you're pretty conservative sometimes

well

redistricting to disenfranchise minority voters is different than redistricting to benefit a party.

both are bad but i think one is worse. it just so happens that in order for republicans to benefit from redistricting, they have to disenfranchise minority voters.

i want to abolish the electoral college and greatly reduce the number of voting districts in each state and do away with FPP

that's not what I said. I made a statement about garrymandering and the voting rights act.

you're also drawing a false equivilancy, which you do all the time. The garrymandering being carried out today by the GOP (to disadvantage non whites) pales in comparison to anything going on today with democrats. It's not an apples to apples comparison.
