i'd hardly consider tinted windows a "supergroup" or even famous.

that says to me "i want money"

honestly APC at this point has a pretty niche fan base, more or less maynard cultists. i mean it was never a really big group, especially compared to Tool.

it's not like he's joining up with morrissey or something

well part of that reason they are like that at this point is because they haven't put out an album in like 9 years. mer de noms was pretty huge, wasn't it?

and even a straight and public cash grab seems at odds with the image some would like to project onto him

it was for rock/metal charts and it was one of the first albums that had viral marketing (i think it was "street teams," remember the threads here every other day about A Perfect Circle?) but it wasn't a crossover hit or anything. i'm just saying i don't think this necessarily says james wants fame, i mean think about it, what else can he do for money?

and it's not a cash grab either, i don't think he has any money really. i mean i assume bill has the lions share of royalties, and would not be surprised if it was set up like Morrissey & Marr taking 90% of the royalties from the other two shmoes that they needed for the Smiths.

and now they sue all the time because they're broke and Moz and Marr hate their guts

that's not a solid paycheck like touring with a band

in fact it could actually bomb and ending up putting him in debt

besides, he has made his own music

i feel there's some contempt for this, and i just don't even think about it really.

he's made a decent living the past 12 years playing music he enjoys with friends and people he enjoys working with. all the while running a successful recording studio.

seems like a pretty great deal to me.

what's James's cut from the SP catalog. I always figured he had some part of that. enough to not have take gigs unless he wanted to.

also, he has done some producing, which probably pays better than following billy's former guitar tech around.

I don't know where to post this, but this

Quote:
NME/Emily Mackay: He said in his statement on leaving that he “couldn’t just cash the cheque”…

Corgan: See now, here is a perfect opportunity to bury Jimmy as a fucking liar. But I won’t. That’s a lie. That statement’s just a flat-out lie.
is unfortunately classic Billy Corgan post 2004/5. It's Billy Corgan condensed into one short answer. Amazing.

which doesn't mean james really is apathetic, just that he doesn't have the mental capacity to deal with all that stuff, and being such an undercommunicator it just seems like apathy

it really is kind of infuriating to continue wallowing in what happened in the past and seeing the other side just ignore it completely.

Billy = 90% of those who work with him end up in some kind of argument/falling out

James = how many of the many people he has worked with have ended up hating/falling out with him?

On the other hand, the passive-aggressive claims against Iha may possibly have some merit.

In other words, none of us actually know.

Performers get performance royalties if they are credited on the record. Performance royalties aren't nearly as much as composer's royalties, but it's substantial if you played on 5 multiplatinum records. I would imagine the money was split evenly on tours and record advances, otherwise that would cause some major strife that I think even Billy would have the decency to avoid.

I'm not sure what he meant by 'loaded' in referring to the other members of the band, but the other band members should certainly be able to buy a decent house and car without taking out a mortgage, while living off interest of the remaining cash. If you don't do it right, you can piss that money away very quickly.

i thought it was Vig and the label pressuring Billy to play all the parts on the early albums. That's a difficult pressure and on this one I'd say Darcy and James should have let go of their ego and let him do it and take the hint from the Pro's that for recordings their chops needed some work. Could of been simple as that.

well you're partly right:

Quote:
Contrary to numerous reports that former NBA MVP Allen Iverson was broke after having his bank account seized by a judge in Georgia to pay off an almost $860,000 jewelry bill, Peter Vecey of the New York Post reported that he learned from a person familiar with the situation that Iverson has an account worth $32 million that he cannot touch until he is 55, but does release $1 million to Iverson yearly.

Luckily for him, he did have that account set up, otherwise we would be talking about a baller who was once insanely rich that is now bankrupt.

All though he has a good amount in his account, he did squander around $218 million in his career, as the report states that Iverson amassed around $250 million in his 14-year career, not $150 million as previously reported.
if you would like a more real case of total bankruptcy look up antoine walker

he had to get Nazr Mohammed to pay his lawyer fee when his mansion was foreclosed on.

ahhhh. I really like Iha's new album. I just acquired it on the interwire. Its really good. There are a couple songs that remind me of his first album. I would have to think that the pumpkins sound wouldn't differ too much if he were in the band vs. jeff shroder though.

Anyway, what makes James a bad human being? He tried to be clear that he didn't want to be in the pumpkins anymore and flat out walked out of their last show without saying goodbye to any of his band mates. Who would want to be in a band with such a crackhead? James and darcy hang out and snort all kinds of shit.
