Could you possibly give any more specifics? This actually all sounds really interesting. I talked to Matt very briefly in 1996 and he seemed like a really cool guy.

elliot and monte recorded the short set billy did. it was billy solo on quitar. Jeff joined him for bleed. (wasn't the whole band) the set was cool. except for some fucking douche who kept yelling "free bird!" between songs. I thought he might get thrown overboard... I don't think the guy was one of the fans invited by the band. he was the only person there that wasn't chill. Maybe he got on through the radio station give away

the band invited fans to an after party at Paris Club, but I had drive back to Michigan and didn't go....

several times I saw Billy personally thank individual fans that were there, several of whom manage fan sites, like SP Freaks, bystarlight, etc. There were superfans there who'd never met billy or the band before and it was cool to see how happy that made them. Billy said at one point that he did read the essays..

Billy's looking at the double door shows now, plans to put together a comp. He said that they thought they had multi tracks for Gravity Sessions, but they don't. He seemed disappointed about that.

Matt is a cool guy. No ego at all. Much like the current SP2 band members. He obviously looks up to Jimmy. He told me that when he joined SP he had heard that Jimmy said if he was going to be replaced it should be Matt Walker... Matt said that was a big deal for him at the time

Matt went on for a while about the massive archive billy has. He said unless you've seen some of it you wouldn't believe it. He said that he's supposed to sit down with someone in the next week or so to look at footage from some live shows (that Matt was involved in) that might end up on a reissue DVD. He didn't say which shows, only that they were pro shot and he was unaware that there was any video footage from those shows.

Matt seemed a little bummed about his gig with morrissey ending. It didn't sound like it ended smoothly. Apparently, Morrissey hasn't recorded anything of the New Album that's supposedly in the works and refuses to until he has a deal that he wants with a label. It sounds like that might have been an issue with the band. Matt's also got 3 kids of various ages and it sounds like the travel was tough (sounded like stuff I'd read Jimmy saying about his family)

matt said he started working with someone (I missed the name) that had worked with him in the past in another band (post SP) and that they're trying to see if they can put something new together....
