I like Wildflower.

This mostly sounds like Zeitgeist, with better songwriting and worse drumming.

I think the best way to describe this, based on the limited sample, would be a very competent alt-rock album that nevertheless lacks the very unique aspects of SP1. So... Mary Star of the Sea.

From those samples it sounds promising at least - the synth of Violet Rays/Pinwheels especially. I'm quietly optimistic. Drumming doesn't really offend me.

Since Esty hasn't read this thread yet:

"HAHAHA I'LL BE LAUGHING WHEN YOU STUPID FUCKERS HEAR THE ALBUM AND REALISE HOW SHIT IT IS!!"

at the very least it doesn't sound one dimensional like zeitgeist.

Judging purely on these samples, it seems there's a higher stinker-ratio on Oceania than MSotS.

Oh well. My expectations are so low at this point, I'm surprised I'm even still here.

mary star of the sea was corgan's first flop. regressive, lazy and it actually sounded like pain; all clippy and brutal. i agree this sounds predominately like zwan. its not all bad, though. it could be pretty good. even zeitgeist wasnt all bad.

This does sound like Zwan at times, but by the clips it sounds better than Zeitgeist, American Gothic, etc. and the current TbK songs released, and that's all I really wanted. This will no doubt have a few gems.

sounds pretty good. like what you can hear of the songs that were played live; they don't appear to be studio-butchered, which was horribly likely. the songs i'm not familiar with from the tour, none of them are immediately jarring, though a 30s snippet doesn't sell me on any of them either.

i'm not hearing anything comparable to Zeitgeist at all, mercifully. the vocals appear a little high, nothing to freak out over, the drumming seems okay too. unless the samples have skirted anything annoying, seems promising. i agree that is sounds kind of like what a 2nd Zwan album would be like. some of the tracks they played on tour were, i'd thought reminiscent of live Zwan and that impression is reinforced by this.

If he was calling the Band "Zwan" and not SP I'd be just as happy with what I've heard of this album so far. I don't really care anymore what he calls the band.

I can probably get over it after several listens but the vocals are annoying. Sounds like they are on top of everything else. Doesn't mesh right with the music.

Disappointed in the vocals. No energy or passion. That's what makes the old music good and the new music boring. Don't know why he can't bring the energy from the live shows into the studio.

I liked most of the clips. Sounds like Zwan meets new SP. I think it will be a fun summer album, something good to play in the car.

I preferred the live versions from the fall 2011 tour though.

This sounds like some of the best shit that Corgans written in a long time! Love the guitar work!

On the downside Byrne still seems a little headache inducing... Which is a shame because some of those clips sound pretty brilliant... The drumming just kind of sticks out like a sore thumb... But when we're used to a drummer as brilliant as Chamberlin thats going to be expected to some extent... But the guy has no dynamics... Its like he hits the drums as hard as he can or at the same volume level for every single song he plays on.
