i agree on the ageist thing. but i also think (unlike some other posters here) that what one uses in art or jokes or literature etc. does not necessarily (if at all) lead to a specific outlook in the audience

a series of fantasy films with some elements of racism in a would-be real-life setting does not lead to racism in the people who watch it. sorry for pointing out the obvious here.
