Anyone else here have older siblings that got booted out of the house?

after my dad came home from getting his 420 Rx, he had this little folder with all the info and shit and there was a picture of the Doc that prescribed him and the doc looked EXACTLY like the intervention dude. except he was wearing a white coat with a stethoscope around his neck. But about your brother....i dunno man. everyone's got their shit. i was in the same situation except i was the older one. left at 18 but had to come back at 24. and my parents have yet to kick my brother out. he didnt work for years, then he finally had a steady job and moved out with his two best friends. they were evicted for fucking up the place within 6 months and were ordered to be out the next day. other than those 6 months, he's lived here. he's almost 25. to his credit- after he moved back from the crazy party apartment, he went to school and now has a job.

but like i said, everyone has their own shit and you never know what's gonna happen so I agree that you gotta give him a little love. I was the "good child", too. but i've also screwed up quite a bit and have had to come back and live at home from time to time.

where is he going to go? does he have a plan? what do you think is going to happen? are you glad it's finally happening or are you worried?

I moved away from home at 15, and moved back in at 19. Then left at 23 and lived in a halfway house for about six months (a nightmare) until I moved in with my grandmother.

I was definitely the golden child type - if you read about family systems therapy you see how all the dysfunctional roles play off one another.

I fell in to drugs too, even though I was the perfect kid and never even tried a drug until I was 19 (after I moved back home from an extremely traumatic situation). We are all susceptible, and it really does only take a couple horrible choices that seem unimportant at the time to really fuck yourself for good or damn near close to it.

lately it's been the latter though actually i can't complain too much, i'm sleeping better than i ever have just not for long enough

I dont know your brother, and from what you described, he does need to start taking more responsibility for his life.

however...give it ten years and a smack in the face from life post-high school and I guarantee you'll be a little more understanding of where he's at right now.

i'm sure my little brother thinks the same thing about me right now. i'm sure hes wondering why my parents havent kicked me out. we don't talk much and all he sees me do is listen to music and blaze in my room. i'm 27.

some people take a little longer than others to BE adults. and some people need help when they CANT be adults.

i'm glad you and your mom are less stressed now that he's gone, but don't be too quick to say good riddance. give him a bit of a break.
