My love is Winter & Pinwheels are both great. Quasar is the 2012 Superchrist for me, the other 2 are better than anything else on TG so far.

i think the lyrics to quasar talk about the death of the cult leader father yod so that song is kinda interesting to me. love the middle space-out in the song

in all of the new songs the bass sound awesome! nicole seems to know her shit!

Oceania. I can't really remember any of the others aside from Pinwheels & My Love is Winter.

billy mentioned that he used a mellotron to record parts of the song so that should be interesting

If he takes any longer to release the album I'll lose interest.

I'd say Pinwheels and My Love Is Winter are the best two. Pinwheels sounded good live. My Love is Winter was pretty good too.

The audience response to Quasar was pretty good, but I think some of it was just people going off cause it was the first song of the set and it was loud. Like Oceania I think the recorded version will determine whether it gets played live much beyond next year.

IMO, Oceania was only OK. Not as good, for instance, as For Martha. Transitions between the several different sections of the song were a little rough.

Panopticon... OK

yeah I agree with most of this. Except that Panopticon is more than OK in my book. Oceania live losses me at the end a bit ... but the lyrics are interesting ... "Oh, would I follow you/How could I have ever doubted you/Sweet baby, nurture me/Sweet lady, if you please/ Try to wait on me/Try to wait on me"

the middle part of oceania is one of the best things billy's written in the past decade for sure (assuming it isn't ruined on the album)

it's pretty and dreamy like no other reunion stuff except maybe parts of gossamer

Musically Oceania is shaping up to be like a culmination of the all the styles Sp has been doing over the years, sort of like a photo album. I dont really like the 2007 prog rock style but the songs have grown on me somewhat. I did have expectations for tbk though and only 1/3 of the songs there are decent.

yeah I agree about the middle part. I just hope the ending of the studio version is not the same as the live version

i quite like the energy of panopticon
the thrown voice is nice.

i also like the mood of oceana (the song)
but will expect the studio production to make it even better.

Quasar and Pinwheels.

Quasar sounds like it could have come straight off of those early '97 shows with the epic Silverfucks.
