I had a best friend years ago who saw himself as a "nice guy". He'd rant all the time about how girls dissed him or that other guys stole his crushes. He constantly repeated the "nice guy" fallacy. Eventually he started crowding in on girls i was dating. I stopped hanging with the guy after I found out he was showing up at my girlfriends house and trying to hang out with her.

His problem was that at least when it came to women he wasn't a nice guy. he was a douche bag. he creeped girls out. he had really bad interpersonal skills and never learned how to talk to women. So instead of seeing what he was doing wrong he blamed other people for it. And because of that he was a virgin well into college.

he was also a libertarian. not sure if that's causal or coincidence.

i don't know if i'm considered a "nice guy" or just socially awkward. a "nice guy" is often described as submissive and always showers the girl with gifts and shit, which i personally have never done before. girls tell me that they like guys that take lead and even one told me that they like asshole type guys too. i'm not very good at taking lead, myself. and i'm definitely not an asshole IRL unless it's warranted. looks like i gotta work on my girl skills.

there's nothing wrong with gifts but that's not what i think of when i think nice guy

There's a difference between being a nice guy and an emasculated man overly eager to get in a relationship. Girls are afraid to be nice to such types on general principle (high-risk stalking factor, bad dressers, etc.)

I don't know but her life is going to all about driving to the prison, pictures together at the prison, and phone calls.

I asked her about sex and she said they had ways of doing it on the phone. I'd like to know how the hell prisoners have phone sex when the calls are monitored and the phones are out in public areas.
