several people I went to school with have died in the past decade. but I was long out of touch with them by then.

all my grandparents have died. My mother died a couple of years ago.

I have several aunts and uncles who have died.

when you are old, everyone around you bites the dust. then one day it's you.

9. Three in high school died in a wreck, 2 in a plane crash, 2 from cancer, one from an illness he caught in Egypt and another from an aneurysm.

That isn't including family.

One drowned in a Loch, the other in a Quarry. Lost lots of family in recent years including an uncle whose car was decimated by a truck.

I went to where he died (it's up in the mountains) a few years later and found pieces of his car/clothes. It was made even harder because where he died was so goddamn beautiful.

I really don't know what it was, he was there on a mission trip of some sort (2002, I believe it was) and he caught something. He was in a hospital there for a few days before he died.

I really don't think it's that bad of a thread at all, honestly think you're the one with the problems if you find such an issue with the thread. I was thinking about them and looking them up last night and that got me thinking to a question that's always interested me with people ever since the 2nd guy in my post died and I talked to my girlfriend at the time about this and was kind of blown away at just how many friends she had who had died. At that point I thought I was pretty fortunate enough to not have lost that many friends to death in comparison to her but as time has gone on and I've talked to more people about it whenever/however that conversation ever arose I've come across a good amount of people who haven't lost any friends. So it's kind of always interested me since because everyone is almost drastically different in these regards.

It's not like that at all. If you are going to remember someone and remember everything about them then why would choose to single out and ignore/forget how they were a very attractive person? It was who they were.

Same thing with my friend who died in middle school. He was like a mini Will Ferrell when it came to his looks. Anytime I see Will Ferrell I think of him.

no friends just grandparents.

my girlfriend's oldest friend has some sort of weird bone-density disease with a life expectancy of 18-20, and she is now 21. so that's going to suck. we're making truffles with her and her family on sunday.

several ex-baseball teammates who died pretty young. One in a drive-by in east St. Louis just after college, another from brain cancer in his early 30's and what was doubly tough about that was that he was a steriod abuser...

and then Doug, who inexblicably died by choking from working out doing the bench press in his garage. early 20's.

Also an old school friend who married real young, had 5 kids with one on the way and he and his wife get in some type of argument while driving home late one night, flip the car and he was ejected, she was fine. We now have an annual golf tourney that raises about 15 to 20K to help her and the kids.

Oh I used to tutor this kid in Algebra when I was in 9th and 10th grade and last year he was shot in the stomach and killed. He was a HS senior at the time, probably drug related. Apparently some kids knocked on his door and when he answered it they shot him.

1 friend, all of my immediate family except my mom has passed away.

My friend and I were really close in high school. He was one of the only people I knew that enjoyed the pumpkins as much as I did. He was interested in me, asked me to his prom (we went to two different high schools, but we had a technology class together at a separate campus) but I was with Zach so I told him I only wanted to be friends. We still hung out a lot but he always expressed a lot of depression about being single and unable to find someone he thought he was compatible with. We were still friends throughout college and he came to our wedding in 07, but it had been about a year since I'd seen him. In fact when I first saw him I thought who is this dude at our wedding, he'd put on a lot of weight and I didn't recognize him, because when we hung out all the time he was like a beanpole, super skinny.
Anyway, we'd lost contact and I was looking for him on fb, googling him etc. And in 09 I found his obituary online from the Lbk paper. It didn't say his cause of death, but it made it sound like either suicide or an overdose. He didn't do drugs when I knew him, so I don't know. Anyway he died 6 months after our wedding. I was pretty messed up about it.

JJ got hit by a train in high school, but he wasn't really a friend, more of an acquaintance.

Also this one girl I really hated in middle school, who was the younger sister of one of my friends, got hit by a car and died.

Apart from family, two.

#1 was one of the asian kids at high school - and so they all hung out in their group and all seemed to be friendly with each other, I was kind of friendly with him for a while because I'm half asian, but I generally didn't hang out much with him. I didn't find out he topped himself until about a year afterwards.

#2 was a guy who I studied Audio Engineering with... he had somehow got himself into dealing pot, received a set up phone call from a shopping center pay phone one night, met someone in a park nearby, was stabbed repeatedly, his throat was cut, and he was dumped into his Jeep which was covered in petrol and then set alight. The killer made off with 30 grand in cash. http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/sm...218-1azqf.html

There was an acquaintance of mine that was hit by a train. Went to school with him from either elementary school or middle school through high school. Right before my 2nd or 3rd year of college a couple of my friends and I head to a strip club in Philly (Show & Tell I believe) to send off one of our buddies little brother who was about to head into his first year of college. Everyone pitched in for him to be brought up on stage, hand cuffed, whipped, and all else by a stripper. He pussied out and by chance this acquaintance was there and all the willing to set into the open place. So he got up there and it was pretty funny, an interesting show to say the least.

2 months later he gets killed by a train while walking on some train tracks drunk. I was never close to him, a nice guy, but that's always the last and most defining memory I'll have of the guy. Being handcuffed to a stripper pole on stage while in a chair while a stripper whips him and shoves her tits and ass in his face.
