Question So how many friends do you have that have died?

It's 3 for me. I for whatever reason decided to check up on the facebook accounts of 2 that had died in the era of facebook and it's sad. People still leaving messages on their wall and everything.

The first of my friends to die was one of my best friends in middle school. He developed brain cancer and a tumor on/in his brain either right before 8th grade or at the start of 8th grade. I'll always regret how I handled that whole situation, it just kind of freaked me out and I didn't understand the gravity of it all. He ended up dieing late July right before the start of 9th grade.

The 2nd was a college friend who was also in my fraternity. He was back home and at a local party in July 2009 around there and I guess somehow fell into a quarry in the backyard of the house where the party was. Fell like 100 feet to his death or something like that. He was a really funny guy. Really cool person.

3rd was a girl that I went to college with, again a very cool girl that got along with everyone and just made anyone who came in contact with her feel real good. Also extremely attractive. She was from Norway and went back there after graduating (we graduated the same year). In November 2010, 6 months after graduating a tractor trailer truck tipped over on top of her car in Norway crushing her car and killing her instantly.

Three very cool very good people whose lives were cut wayyyy too short. So what about anyone else? Any friends that have died? Some people I talk too have a lot more friends who have passed then me and then again there are others who haven't had any friends who have died. So I don't know, could be an interesting thread.

none yet

in my adult life, the first death of someone i was close to that i had to deal with was my aunt two years ago

before that it was my grandpa on my dad's side but i was a teenager, and thinking about mortality doesn't kick in then so it's slightly different than being an adult and dealing with death because at this point i'm pretty well aware that we all gotta go sometime and my way out might be the same as hers: cancer.

although a friend of mine from college died but i didn't even find out until his brother posted on facebook that he had been dead now 2 years

we weren't especially close but he was a good fella

i don't think that necessarily counts.

I haven't had any close friends pass away, but I have known quite a few acquaintances that have. Almost every single one was from a car accident. One girl that was my age just simply died in her sleep because her heart stopped beating. I found this out after reminiscing about the time she peed on my futon the night she crashed at my place after my 21st birthday party. I felt like a HUGE asshole.

i've known people from hs who've passed over the years. none i really knew as friends, though. just familiar names/faces.

I'm really concerned about one of my friends, though. He has AIDS and nobody's really heard much from him lately. the last i did hear, he was really bad. that was over 6 months ago.

Yeah that's probably not a good sign. You should try and get in touch with him.

i dont have his number. at least the one in my phone isnt his anymore. my brother might have it but i'm scared to ask bc it's my brother's best friend. he's like a brother to me. and i think my brother is really sensitive about it and even if i asked and he had his number or knew what was up he'd probably just shrug and not want to talk about it.

the last i heard was from my mom who heard it from their other best friend who stops by.

he got it on the meth circuit so it's not unusual for him to go 'missing'. but not like this.

None, though a friend of one a friend died on Christmas Eve a few years back. I only met her once. I have three memories of her, that she was annoying, hideous and she tried "hiding" something arbitrary of mine in her cleavage in the presence of her boyfriend.

i don't really want to derail this thread entirely but i'm offended in a thread about people dying there are two obituaries that comment on the physical attractiveness of the dead woman in question

It was what it was. A truley awesome person and she also happened to be a very attractive girl. Your lasting memory of someone might always be how you remember seeing them last, and she was always a beautiful girl. A great smile that she always wore and everything.

"We are gathered here today the mourn the loss of a profoundly attractive woman, young Bethany. She was so gorgeous, she had a cute little button nose and huge blue eyes and the shiniest platinum blonde hair you ever saw. Her bottom was firm but bubbly and those tits, Christ Almighty, how could we ever forget about those spectacular tits?"

I had five people die in 2006.

First was my best friend's sister and an ex of mine. Still pretty crushed by it. Then there was my 4 month old niece; most heart-breaking was whatit did to my sister.

Then there was a dude who was friends w my sister in law and i'd only met once. He died about maybe a month after he was hanging out at my place. And then there was an old neighbor kid who we had lost contact with.
Oh wait, and then there was a dude I was in boot camp with... dude dies in afghanistan. His wife had just had a kid and I had just went to a "on leave" party for him when he was in town.

I did say it was all I could personally remember about her the one time I met her.

he wasn't really a friend of mine.
we were in the same class since first grade, up until ninth grade. he was always this uber-geeky kind of guy. he'd bring in this special flowery pillow to class and put it on his chair. he'd write up entire essays and assignments solely for himself, not for class or anything. had a bizzare drive to learn and learn and build up for what would make him a successful career and life later on.
as the years rolled he kind of turned into a laughing stock. a person like that is gonna attract some fire to him and i was laughing at him too sometimes.

anyway he had a rough history. his brother died, his father died. his brother died from some fucked up streptococcal infection. got sick and died within two days or something.
when i was like 24 i worked in a computer store and every once in a while he'd come and really harass one of the sales guys about all these products he wanted to buy. "now show me this.... now this... convince me why this is the better one!" etc.
i totally missed it then, but in hindsight he was lonely and looking for somebody to talk to, i guess.
a friend of mine told me he once randomly told him "if i had a girlfriend, or someone to love me, it would all be different" during a conversation.

anyway he wrote up a suicide note and went on a cruise, jumping off the boat in the middle of the ocean. they found his body fucked up and rotten against some rocks about 3 weeks afterwards. i still makes me so sad to think about it

What a stupid thread. I would never bring up my friends who have died by counting them to see how many there were and then listing the number in a thread on a message board. Do you have Asperger's or something Banana? This really doesn't seem neurotypical to me, to create a thread like this.
