I have only met the members of Tortoise in a restaurant, but I have a good story from a friend.

Andy Dick apparently ate at Little 5 Pizza in Atlanta about a year ago. He got super drunk and was crawling on people's tables, humping the air, and saying IM ANDY DICK! He was eventually escorted out of the establishment.

Also, someone I know waited on Ric Flair. He was pissed when someone asked him to do his trademark "Woo!" but after a few drinks he started doing it incessantly and doing his nature boy strut around the place. He came with two beautiful blondes.

i don't think anyone thinks he is cool

but he got lucky and nailed down a show where he goes to cool places. i'd never watch it but i can see wanting to find out the places featured in the show.

no. I did not tell him that.

I think he was annoyed to have to meet with me. He did spend a lot of time showing me his mexican cookbooks. he's really into that stuff. he spends a lot of time in Mexico.

i've never gotten drunk with a famous person unless you count a family member who has been in some movies and commercials and stuff.

i did brush up against donald sutherland in a tiny italian restaurant in nyc though. that was coll.

and i saw george will walking down the street in georgetown just before i got drunk

had i already been drunk it may have been more interesting.

I almost forgot.

I got drunk once with Floyd Landis (winner of the tour de france). It was AFTER he'd blown his drug test and ruined his career.

I've done some drinking with a LOT of professional cyclists (with whom I'm friends). But most of them wouldn't be known to anybody in here...

Mario Batali is cool.

he does actually wear Crocs, shorts and that vest thing everywhere he goes. And although he looks enormous on TV, he's really short.

Of all the "famous" chefs I've met, Batali was the most down to earth and easy to talk too. Emeril was a douche.

Do you know Graham Obree? I used to serve him fairly regularly.

Erm famous wise, mainly just drinking with people from well known Scottish bands. Other than that I don't know, a few idiot UK celebrities at various awards things.

OH

After the Sugar Bowl in January '07 I got nearly blacked out on Bourbon Street, and on the way back to our hotel we saw the ND football team loading up their bus. I shook Jeff Samardzija's hand and said hello and stuff and resisted the urge to ask him what the fuck he was thinking picking up a stupid personal foul when down 7 or something to LSU.

I got wasted on whiskey and weed with Trail Of Dead backstage once. Threw up after I lost a 'Texas chili eating contest' against Conrad and their bass player, who was out of his mind on shrooms.

i've never even met anyone really famous, really, let alone get drunk with them. talked with the redhead from arcade fire for a couple minutes while were both drinking a beer after i had been photographing them the night before. since i don't even remember his name clearly that doesn't count.

i met canadian hockey hero paul henderson back in high school.

oh, and melissa auf de maur gave me a peck on the cheek after her show once...probably just to make me go away since i was hammered.

I almost forgot. I had a private box at Joe Louis Arena a few years ago (the last year Steve Yzerman was with the Wings). He sat in our box for a period. we were drinking pretty heavily, but he wasn't.

the guy still looks like he's 30 years old. one of the nicest professional athletes I've every met.
