if you don't think it is interesting you might be an S versus an N, or perhaps if your issue is with the arbitrariness you could be a P as opposed to a J?

"i value compassion over analytical reasoning"

compassion is, when applicable, always a factor in my analysis.

I'm an INFP (borderline INTP; all of my other traits are strong)
Not really possible to be INFP and "borderline INTP" considering the cognitive functions:

INFP Fi / Ne / Si / Te
INTP Ti / Ne / Si / Fe

The feeling and thinking functions between the two types are totally different. Typically people who confuse themselves between these 2 types are actually INFJ. Not saying this personality typing method is valid, but rather that anyone who has read about the cognitive function theories can see that nobody is really "between INFP and INTP", because that doesn't make sense.

also dongs

allow me to explain myself. i don't think i am actually between them, like you said that doesn't make sense. just meant that i tend to use thinking (objectivity) way more than other INFPs I have talked to and that is my least clear preference.
i also think it could be very strong Ne somehow masquerading as Ti. not sure
i could be an infj i guess but i use Fi way more than Fe and Ne way more than Ni

i answer those questions as a bottom line thing. if i had to choose between one i would almost always choose compassion over reasoning. of course i'd rather have both but in the end it is more important to me to be compassionate

well how about that, i've never gotten this result before. but as you can see only one of the categories is strongly expressed one way or the other.
loner, more interested in intellectual pursuits than relationships or family, wrestles with the meaninglessness of existence, likes esoteric things, disorganized, messy, likes science fiction, can be lonely, observer, private, can't describe feelings easily, detached, likes solitude, not revealing, unemotional, rule breaker, avoidant, familiar with the darkside, skeptical, acts without consulting others, does not think they are weird but others do, socially uncomfortable, abrupt, fantasy prone, does not like happy people, appreciates strangeness, frequently loses things, acts without planning, guarded, not punctual, more likely to support marijuana legalization, not prone to compromise, hard to persuade, relies on mind more than on others, calm

totally you.

i should also mention the MBTI is intended for mentally healthy people. it's easy to see how mental illness makes all of this much more erratic (potentially)
for example it is easy to see how a really depressed INFJ could seem like an INFP since presumably their main function (Fe) would not be getting used much at that point and they would be acting out of stress not preference
possibilities are endless really.
