i thought it was just one more season. i hoped it would end this way, it's the only way the story can remain somewhat interesting. ugh so i'm afraid i'll watch the next season too.

it's funny. many people have been waiting for this to happen and now that it has it is pretty anticlimactic.
the therapy scenes keep getting worse and worse. she is extremely unethical.
there's one more episode this season right?

this season was kinda lame. the whole sixth sense plot, always someone saving the main people from death at the last second and the awful finale. why did she go to that church anyway? and right at that moment. c'mon.

She told Dexter to go there and finish stuff up earlier in the episode.

She had asked Dexter to go finish up some work there, and went there herself, presumably, to tell him she had romantic feelings for him.

The question of why Dexter would use a crime scene the police already knew about, where he said he would be, and during a manhunt for a criminal the police thought was still on the loose is beyond me.

good point.

can someone tell me why Travis didn't simply kill Dexter in the marina? he could have just chopped of his head when Dex was down and not that silly boat fire thing. the Deb in love with Dex is just cooky and doesn't make sense. I don't want to watch incest on a TV show. Yuck!

what do you guys thing with the "sixth sense" plot thing. that Geller was dead all along?

no therapist would ever encourage a client to get with their adopted brother

I do find it kinda funny people who have no problem with a show about a serial killer all of a sudden have their panties in a bunch with an "incestual" plotline between adopted siblings.

And yes, I understand the Westermarck effect, etc etc.

I don't like the "incest" storyline personally. I think it's kinda stupid. I cannot see how it advances the plot in any quality way. In fact, I think it probably turns up neutering the moral center of the show, and the only well-rounded, capable female character. (And yes, I know this is Netphoria and we're all 12 and girls are icky and every female actress on every program is terrible here.) But at the same time, it isn't like "turn-away, my moral sensibilities are crushed" shocking. This isn't 1982 and Flowers In The Attic.

He was her step-brother, technically.

it's not incest but it's still a bit

i don't really care though, i think it could be a good plot line in theory. i just don't like how it came about with her therapist

she's getting better as the seasons go on imo. she's still pretty annoying but it's mostly because of the script now

I think the therapist has been BY FAR the worst part of this whole thing. The therapist is practically championing the relationship! She gets Deb to understand she has feelings about Dexter (ok, decent, if unbelievably quick, therapy so far), and see how her feelings for Dexter has caused her to seek out terrible men who share Dexter's worst qualities (again, so far so good), AND THEN HELPS DEB DECIDE THE BEST WAY TO TELL DEXTER ABOUT HER FEELINGS IN HOPES OF A RELATIONSHIP STARTING (and there goes the train from the "I still have a state certification" tracks). That's malpractice! The moral and ethical ramifications of what the psychiatrist is doing makes the whole thing farce.

Dexter is the most overrated show on TV. Seriously sucks.

Not usually. It's sort of like you said a week ago: Showtime programs, generally, start out pretty solid then get wildly over-the-top as the series goes on. Dexter in the last two episodes has sort of taken a giant leap that's basically re-writing characters for the last two years.

I'm going to give season 7 a chance, but if it's just Deb covering for or aiding Dexter in committing murders/having a debate within herself for 2 seasons on whether or not to bust him, then I can't see how that'd be compelling television and I'll probably peace out on it.

Anyone watch Homeland? First season was gripping television, but I can't possibly see how season two is anywhere near as good.

I don't think it has any "critical" ranking, to be honest. Show me positive reviews of the show, outside the first two seasons and season 4 (and that was more John Lithgow than the actual show getting praised). If you're talking like "how many people are watching ratings," well what's the old line: no one will ever go broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public?
