Because the 85 players on that team have jack shit to do with this. Canceling practice or a game does nothing to help this situation, there's no reason.

Paterno shouldn't be the coach, but the players shouldn't be punished for something they have no involvement in whatsoever.

In a company you have:

Person A who is head of his department

Person B who is right under Person A

and

Person C who is just a worker that is under B.


Person A and Person B have been close and working together for over 30 years.




Person C goes to Person A with an outrageous claim, a serious one but outrageous nonetheless about Person B.

Person A knows this is serious if true but doesn't know if Person C might have any intentions to make up such a claim therefor he is not sure if he needs to take it to the police and ruin Person B's life whether it's true or not. Person B being a close person to Person A for a good part of their lives.


So Person A takes it to the Owner of the company so that they are aware and can look into the claims of Person C to find out if they are true or not and then they can go to the police.





There is no way of Person A knowing of Person C might have had any bad intentions in order to fuck over Person B. It was a very serious allegation to make. Still Person A went to the powers that be so that they could look into it. Person A did what he was supposed to do.



Person C and the Owner fucked up. Person A did just fine. Don't villianize Person A because you now have the benefit of hindsight and all the facts when Person A certainly did not.
