Default Jane's Addiction - The Great Escape Artist (streaming on iTunes right now)

Surprised there's no buzz for this here...

I'm a few tracks in and the album is pretty solid.

really you're surprised nobody here wants to hear the death rattle of a band way past its prime

It's a pretty good album. I had my doubts since it had been so long since they had released anything.

It's easily their weakest album and definitely nowhere near as good as their previous stuff...but it's still better than half the shit out there right now.

How would you compare it to the new Chili Peppers album?

To be honest I haven't really given the new chili's a fair chance. I used to love RHCP but now they just kind of get on my nerves unless it's Blood Sugar Sex Magik. I will give it another shot tonight though. When I heard the single it reminded me of a bad Maroon 5 and I nearly puked.

Also, I still don't understand why people hate on Strays. It's a criminally underrated modern rock album.

I prefer One Hot Minute and Californication to BSSM. The new one isn't as good as either of those but it is pretty solid I think.

Has absolutely nothing to do with nu-metal, though.
