the first one. the second one has some great parts but the whole ending at Bill's plays doesn't really do it for me.

oh god this post is so disgusting.

Inglourious Basterds was an amazing movie. Right up there with Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. Easily one of the best moves of the past decade.

In fact if I had to rate the top 5 of the past decade it goes as:

1. Children of Men
2. Pan's Labyrinth
3. Inglourious Basterds
4. LotR: tRotK
5. Anchorman

But that's another topic for another day.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 was entertaining but didn't strike me for much of anything, but Kill Bill Vol. 2 is a very good movie.

They are getting played back to back on AMC right now. I caught the last half hour of Vol. 1, and Vol 2. is about 20 minutes in.

EDIT: And Death Proof was fucking awful. Easily the worst thing Tarantino has ever made. Planet Terror was much better than Death Proof that it really hurt seeing Grindhouse in theaters seeing as Death Proof was the closing film.

i turned off kill bill vol. 1 after about a half hour because it was awful and I know he was intentionally low balling the dialogue to homage kung fu movies but i think that's unnecessary and beneath him. so i decided if i'd have to wait to see the end of the story I might as well just abort now.

during that scene near the end where they massacre the nazis including their families I was just like and everyone in the audience was laughing hysterically

most awkward thing I have ever experienced while watching a movie

it did occur to me however that maybe tarantino is satirizing his own audience via a scene which is actually quite horrific but is framed in a way which is meant to evoke humor or triumph or something, thus deriding violence-hungry fans... I dunno, it's a really shitty movie. How it is so positively regarded is one of the greatest mysteries in life to me

inglorious basterds was more a commentary on film than of war / hitler.
i think people miss that quite often.

The poll should be:

1. People who have been deep in Banana's mother's rotten cunt
2. The rest of humanity

kill bill 2 is better than 1 but I love them both. David Carridine's performance and swagger was one of the best performances of the decade. All the emotional payoffs were in KB2 and the fight with the one eyed lady was every bit as awesome as her killing off the crazy 88s in KB1.

I remember when I saw 2 in the theatre and quite a few people walked out. I was really surprised that people who loved the first one couldn't even get through the second part. It's not that different to me.

PS:

Death Proof was fantastic. Planet Terror was good and at times hilarious but it's doesn't come close to Death Proof.

What's not to love about Pan's Labyrinth.

I'll always remember my first time seeing it. I knew it was going to be a bit on the dark side but I was not at all expecting the violence and just how dark it was. That movies so good.

Plus I like how the ending is open for interpretation.

that's the only criticism that you can pull out - the audience in the theater your awkward ass saw it in was laughing at an "inappropriate" part?
