i'm glad they are, yes. Qaddafi needs to relinquish power, it's not about being for or against the rebels it's about taking a stand against Qaddafi. And we can accomplish this the same way we did in Serbia, which turned out to be a good thing for that region.

and i'm especially glad it's the french. I was saying for a while, why do you have to wait for us, we are over committed. it's not our shit this time, the French and the Germans should do it because america and Britain were lead into Iraq by a retard cowboy and his dippy british sidekick.

its a good idea to "get involved" but with extreme caution since many of the rebels are anti american extremists

That's kind of the way revolutions and shit are done. We would have never won ours without the French finally taking their sweet time to get involved and help us out.

Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without an accordion.

Basically that.

Al Qaeda was there and attacked us. Had go to in there and fuck them up. Problem is that we didn't make it our main focus and let it drag on long enough and allow them time to migrate over into Pakistan.

Ultimately Iraq wasn't a bad war though.

We were able to get those oil fields into the hands of American oil corporations plus we now have a pretty nice sized military hub right there in the middle east and also in the process got rid of a regime that was not one of our allies. It was not a war that was at all about our own personal safety but it will definitely yield long term benefits to our modern day empire.

yeah operation enduring freedom definitely succeeded in decreasing the chances of something like 9/11 happening again

to play devils advocate, we probably would've ended up going against saddam at some point anyway. its just that the bush admin went about it in a very very dumb way. the exact opposite of how we're doing with libya right now

as banana said the goal was not stopping another 9/11 it was increasing the power of the american military empire.

i'm afraid that the people of libya will be wary of supporting a new government backed by the west. aren't a lot of the opposition fighters islamic radicals? seems like a lot of them will not be down with extensive US/EU intervention. Hopefully we will leave them alone after they get qaddafi out but i'm sure we'll stick around to be repaid for our services (in their oil). just some thoughts.

11 cruise missiles, average $2 million a pop. None aimed at the target or his sons.

Great idea. Let's spread the military more thin and eventually get crazy-ass Syria and Hamas involved.

Al Qaeda is an international organization. Might as well as attack Saudi Arabia and Indonesia by your logic.

non intervention makes it seem more likely that islamic fundamentalists will eventually take power

if we actually do liberate the country and do not occupy it and leave them to their own devices like Egypt, it should work out. People will not willingly elect and support a more brutal dictatorship than they already had.
