The only dream I feel compelled to achieve is owning and operating my own business...it's a long-term goal/dream, but I feel like it will happen at some point.

I used to dream about being a family man, but the older I get the idea of having a spouse and kids seems like a total inconvenience...I am perfectly content with the way things are right now.

I live when dreaming in sleep. When awake, life is but a candle and a dream must give it flame.

I'd rather not live my dream...having dreams kept me going. Now that most of these dreams came true, it's harder to find motivation. I tried to make up new dreams, but I can't think of anything. I never thougt that being perfectly content would suck so much.

And honestly Starla, I don't necessarily want you but I know you want me. It's not really my dream but if I were to satisfy your dream then it would be my dream. That's just the kind of guy I am. A little bit like Jesus, only I don't care if you are a single mom.

Not at all. Living in Saudi Arabia away from my wife and little boy is a nightmare to which I hope to wake up from in November.

One the plus side:

I have a relatively well paid job that combines my passion for social justice and people and problem solving in a corporate environment. Frustrating sometimes but it's better to be a little frustrated and well paid then joining the Peace corps to make a difference in people's lives.

Being in the middle east adds a whole new flavor to the job though. Without the corporate standards all these foreign workers would be exploited beyond belief. At least my company gives a shit enough to employ me to change the mindset on human rights and safety and gives me the backing to enforce those standards no matter the extra cost.

I have a boss who is great to work for and has similar views (something that is hard to find in an engineering company). I have some good friends out here and am filling my adventure side with all the world travel.

I am providing for my family during a tough time and have finally seen some fruits of that labor as my wife finally graduated her Master's program last summer and now has a good job so we can fight against the growing tide against the middle class in the us. We have paid of 60000 dollars of debt in the past two years(mostly last year when I took this job) and when I come home we will be in a good position to buy some property and get out of our tiny apartment. Might even be able to get out of the sinking ship that is the Metro Detroit region of Michigan.

I am still making time for my other passions, music (playing and listening) being the main one.

So in summary I hope to one day live the dream and try to keep living it as the dream evolves in my life. Things are looking up though.
