Now the name of the project makes a lot of sense...as in, "Jimmy Chamberlin left the Smashing Pumpkins for This?"
Surely these six songs can't be the sum total of what Jimmy's been up to these last couple years. |

If these songs came from the mind of Bill Corgan, you'd be masterbating to it with chunky peanut butter.

i'd need to listen to the whole album, but even in the clips, you gotta love that solid jimmy backing.

i'm going to pass judgement after i hear the record.. not just listen to the clips. i'm willing to give jimmy that much of a chance. Last edited by paranoid : 11-02-2010 at 12:19 AM. |

after first song here's my initial impression:
pros: drumming is great, as always.. although a bit too much on jackknifed at times. production is good, like the guitar overdubs, etc. parts actually reminded me of zwan as far as guitars go and song arrangements. cons: the singer blows. do not like his voice, the lyrics are just as cheesy as anything billy would write these days. it destroys everything and any hope this band has. verdict: compared to teargarden i can listen through this but it's just as cheesy. dig the drumming and that's it. here's hoping he puts the complex back together and goes back into that direction.. jimmy at his best. i'm hoping THIS is a one time thing. |

there are moments on this record that are nice, then other moments that suck complete balls. should have been an instrumental record. what is it with jimmy playing behind shitty singers? looks like he got himself a better guitar player this time around, though.
sad reasons is pretty cool.. neat instrumentation, much more interesting/artistic than what the pumpkins have been putting out. i think i like tightrope the best.. minus the aweful vocals the instrumentation reminds me a bit of tortoise.. getting a bit of a loose fur vibe too. really unqiue drumming on jimmy's part, seems like he's got a bit more room for creativity in this band. Some guy asked about the final straw between him and Jimmy. He said he doesn't want to get too public about it. But didn't diss him at all. Said he's a great musician and he has all the respect for him. They were just going in different directions, and he mentioned This and that they have an album coming out.
