Personality disorders are interesting because there is no known physiological explanation for them, and therefore no real way to treat it with medicine alone. Like the main difference between a personality disorder and a mental illness like bipolar disorder is that someone with the former is that without some sort of therapeutic intervention, it's much less likely that they'll understand how problematic their behavior is.

To use a familiar example, B0lly likely has some sort of personality disorder, because when have you ever heard him take responsibility for his failed relationships with others?
