and "not even a top 5 qb" does not necessarily mean he's not one of the best in the country. there are a lot of quarterbacks.

I'd be kinda hard pressed to name 5 better QBs than Clausen right offhand. He's played well this season. McCoy, Tebow, and Bradford (when he gets healthy) I think are better for sure. But beyond that? I don't know. I don't think Clausen is that far behind those 3.

McElroy was good in the game yesterday, but all he had to do was distribute the ball. He wasn't asked to make many difficult throws. But I guess part of that is because there's no such thing as a difficult throw when there's no pass rush and the opposing DBs are getting blown by on every play. |

Texas, Houston, Alabama, Florida, Michigan and Cincinnatti all have better qbs than ND. Clawson is good, yes, but he's not close to being the best which you alluded. |

seventh best qualifies as "one of the best" in my mind. and you're absolutely wrong about alabama and michigan.

I misread your posts initially - thought you said he was the best, not one of the best. Apologies.
But he got beat head-to-head by a freshman who looks incredible, and Alabama's qb runs the offense amazingly well. Clawson is lucky to have Tate to fall back on, but I'm not overly sold on anything else he does. |

The only thing that matters in the end is wins and losses. You can't compare the stats of different QB's because they run different styles of offenses. Completion percentage is really the only useful stat across the board.

That's what happens when a man goes out and plays with boys.
Arkansas is still a year or two away from having the defensive talent on campus to keep them in games with teams like Bama. That long pass play they gave up right after they cut the lead down to 14-7 sucked the wind right out of them. That play doesn't happen, it's a different ball game. |

I just think it's hard to make intelligent predictions on anything the way the season has gone so far. It's just kinda up in the air as far as who the best teams really are. And if three months from now we can't pull up the things we say in this thread and use them to say how smart our predictions were, what good is it?
But I'll go out on a limb a little. Whoever wins the SEC west division will most likely win the national championship. Bama looks every bit as good as advertised. LSU has looked like less than a top ten team, but they're getting breaks wherever they need them just like they did in 2007. And Auburn is starting to look like a darkhorse now that they have an offense. Hell, even Ole Miss could theoretically get on a roll and go 11-1 and be in the conversation (not likely, but possible). |

Texas is the best team in the country. No idea what you're babbling about. When Texas beats Bama in the title game, it'll be sorta-kinda official.
I bet Corganist got so drunk last night he slept with a democrat. |

![]() But seriously, between the Hogs shitkicking Auburn, and Ole Miss getting utterly handled by Alabama, it was a pretty damn good day. I'm glad I got to enjoy it...considering that Arkansas gets to go to Florida on Saturday. Even I'm not enough of a homer to think that'll go well. |

He thinks winning a game against a team that had what 6 turnovers is brag worthy.

We leapfrogged you in the polls bro not to mention an embarrassing start against a team that got beat by Toledo... at home... and your coach admitting that he overlooked them

yeah well we have oklahoma next week and we still beat the shit out of them
one half doesn't mean fucking anything guy you might have a point if it was actually close but it wasn't slow starts are endemic to college football, maybe once you start shaving you might notice that |

Yeah its hard to lose when your defense pwns tho
Also Julio Jones is still hurt and that was McElroy's first tough road game ever We have work to do but we're in very good shape. There is no such thing as an ugly win on the road in the SEC |
