cat power was a pretty frustrating live experience. don't get me wrong, i loved the music. it was amusing at times, but most of her antics cute value had worn thin after a few hours. i think we ended up leaving the show early.

i can't think of a really horrible concert experience i've had. oh.
livestock with santana and iron butterfly and all these psych out hippy bands was pretty bad. not because of them, but because i think i had the equivalent of 50-60 hits of liquid acid when i took a few huge gulps from an old hippy mans water jug.

This is too easy. The worst band i've sat thru was LIMP BIZKIT. Oh man did they suck. I was suprised no one was booing. I had to sit thru that shit just so I could see Faith No More. But it was worth it cause Faith rocked.

Woops. Yep it was. Meant to type monkey.

Naveed and Clumsy aren't all that bad. Everything after was horrible.

My favourite part of that was their scripted stage banter with the crowd. Three frickin' nights in a row, the same exact pandering lines delivered to the audience:

"You guys ready to shake your asses?"

(scattered applause)

"You guys ready to shake your CANADIAN asses???"

(crowd roars)

MY MOM DRAGGED ME TO MOTLEY CRUE WHEN SHE WENT THROUGH HER MIDLIFE CRISIS.

Voluntarily, hmm... Sloan wasn't very good live. But it was much better than this band I saw with Unwritten Law. I can't even remember their name, but fucking jesus christ, they were almost booed off the stage.

i'm not gonna fully defend OLP, but when i have seen them twice in a small club near me i thought they sounded great.

disappointments for me:

1) white stripes- yeah the guitar sound was really badass. yeah it was a million times too loud. like the loudest show i've ever been to and i had to leave early because of it. yes i had a good time. but why does jack white have to not play the single and then intentionally screw the melodies to the remaining songs. it was a fun show , true, and it was pretty sweet. but c'mon. i saw them at the kool haus in toronto last summer. the opening band was the craziest i have ever seen i have wanted to find out who they were. does anyone know??

2) QOTSA/NFG/boxcarracer - HFS Nutcracker 2002. horrible. ugh

3) Weezer summer 2002, not so bad, but bad venue for the sound. plus the strokes cancelled.

4) Live 1998? Well, they just kind of annoyed me. especially the bald wierd guy. wait a minute...

5) Blink 182 -2000 .... no thanks

6) audiovent dont remember where or when but they sucked more than anything i can imagine

edit:: the only "disappointments" there were prob. the white stripes and weezer i could have cared less about some of the others

I saw this local band called Pancho Villa and they were a "Mexican Heavy Metal Band" as they called themselves. They did an 80s metal version of La Bamba.

The Shazam.. They were kind of like Cheap Trick and a Kiss cover band ran into eachother really fast. Mid 30's mulleted fatties doing good ol' American boy 70's rock. *shudder*

Oval Opus.. I seemed to be the only one who was unimpressed, the audience was easily impressed with all the fancy lighting effects. Every song sounded exactly the same.

That band that opened for David Byrne in September '01. Forget what they were called.

Rival Schools made me want to vomit

There are many more. I can't remember.

Disturbed at the KROQ show in december was awful. The lead singer was making these stupid speeches that basically said "I'm EVOL!!!!"

I'm going to say the Strokes. They weren't *terrible* but sufficiently unremarkable.

What's more is that Sloan was one of the opening acts, and they did an awesome set . . . surprising in what they picked out and how they did it. Definitely the capper of the night.

Also opening at that show was Har Mar Superstar. I have never seen anything worse on a stage in my life. It was quite the night.

Mr. Superstar likes to strip down to his underwear during his performance. He looks like an old, sweaty Ron Jeremy and insists on asking for applause after every song and saying that he's "fucking awesome."

I love special goodness. they're poppy, yes, but pat's a great guitarist, atom's a fucking spider monkey on the drums, and jeb's a damn good bassist. their album is great, and they put on a rocking live show. and they're nice guys on top of that. so poo on you.

Siggi was pretty bad... he's a nice guy, but he's not too keen on the English.

I still have yet to believe you that spiritualized were bad. I refuse to believe it until I see the shit fly myself. I love spiritualized.

I've heard get up kids shows are too loud live. I love them, but I've heard their live act has been not-so-spirited since their last album was out.

QOTSA suck!??!?!?! WHAT?!?!??!! Only the best stoner-metal-groove band ever. Whatever.

My bad concert experiences:
1. Coldplay - it was fucking terrible. The levels were shit, my seat was absolute shit. I fucking hate the Greek Theater and everything corporate and shittastic/stadiumerrific that it stands for. I sat on a fucking stairwell - THAT seat was TWENTY TIMES BETTER than the one I paid for. Any venue that can make a conscious decision to allow a design like that should be razed to the ground.

2. Tomahawk opened for tool in new orleans. they sucked to absolutely no end. the lead singer was I believe the guy from faith no more. his voice was horrible, his DJ skills leave everything to be desired, and his banter was nothing but heckling cajun stereotypes. he really pissed everyone off. it was funny, but horrible.

3. the aforementioned siggi.

4. whoever the fuck opened for garbage and no doubt. omigod. I went only to see garbage because I fucking hate no doubt, and this opening shit band was some chick trying to be courtney love (sans billy's writing talent or plastic surgery), except (if this is possible) she was even less talented.

Ugh, that would be The Distillers. They were pretty fucking awful.

Smashmouth, Cling (a very poor Cranberries rip-off), and Armstrong top my list of shitty bands seen live. Funny how all of them were openers.

I couldn't agree more. In sacramento, he kept yelling shit like "lakers are going to 4 peat" and "mike bibby has anal sex"... that and the fact that they sucked, i dont think anyone applauded them.
