So there's this Japanese restaurant 3 doors down the road from my house right. They specialize in super-fancy sushi (which is really fucking good, btw), all the tables are glass and expensive looking, and they also sell lotus flowers for some reason.

Anyway. It's a family-run place and it's pretty clear that they came over to start up a restaurant. The standard of english isn't particularly high and they have a minimal grip on a lot of aspects of western culture. They're lovely people, but their lack of western smarts is kinda hurting them a bit.

This place is open at 7am, every day of the week. They don't do a breakfast menu or anything, it's all just gourmet sushi. I never see anybody in there before lunch. They also close really early (about 8pm, which is pretty early for restaurants in the area where i live).

I so badly want to go and explain to them that nobody wants to eat smoked trout off glass tables for breakfast, but it would be patronizing of me to do so. Fuck this is so irritating. I just want to help them but i can't bring myself to do it cause i'd feel like a massive jerk.

that would be the pacific princess. my parents cruised on her back in the day...when she sailed up and down the pacific.
