Consequence of Sound's Mike Roffman has his review of the show up.

The Great Pumpkin Homecoming - Night 4 (12/08)

an excerpt:
Quote:
It was a heart warming moment seeing the two Corgans having fun with the half a dozen instruments available to them, and this continued in what was quite possibly the best encore of the band’s recent career. A stormy “Ava Adore” subsided into a dead on cut of “1979″, all finishing with a tear jerking performance of “Disarm”, which Corgan played next to Jesse. When the band finished, everyone remained standing, applauding ’til their cold hands dried up and their coarse throats were itching for water. If anyone was still a “hater”, they might need to find a new band to admonish. The Pumpkins delivered ten fold and yet still remained true to their convictions… how quaint, huh?

Billy, you said after 11/21 that you "watched a video from 1994 and the crowd was going absolutely mental", and lamented that it's not like that these days (but also said that you realize it's "different times"). Then someone said "well if the show was general admission and you played this setlist, people would be going mental."

Enter tonight --- crowd was GREAT!! Cherub Rock, Zero, Bodies, United States was fucking OUT OF CONTROL. Not quite Europe intensity, but for the USA, the crowd was going WILD. We were getting smashed into our spots on the rail... but not that much, cause I was regulating behind me. This one girl kept holding on to my shirt (not a problem for me). But it was pretty fucking mayhem.... some people got knocked out of their spots slightly, and a few girls got carried out over the rail due to exhaustion/getting crushed. But since I was the wildest one during United States, no one bothered me at all.

NETPHORIA was well represented on the right-center b/n Billy and Jeff!! All of y'all were great... I got to meet Pizza Club (eating pizza, of course)!!! And BiissedandGone2, Rickpat, aldango, avsfan, cara... GREAT energy tonight!!!

luna_pumpkin flew 10 hours from Brazil and was first in line at 9AM. You are awesome, but shame on the rest of America. I was 6th in line at 11:30AM. Shout out to Eddie, Jose, Amy, Megan -- and Zack & Brandon, what happened to you guys?

Great banter from Billy tonight... he said, "all those people who thought we couldn't get the band back together were fucking wrong". Also he said, "Now that we have our shit together again, we're gonna start going after the other bands out there.... those bands that people pass off as 'alternative'". I yelled out "Fall Out Boy fucking sucks!!!" and Billy laughed, I'm pretty sure. (reference to DeRogatis's recent Sun-Times review of the FOB Chicago Theatre show, if you missed it... DeRo is fucking clueless).

He also pointed out some dude straight ahead who was apparently giving him the middle finger all night... Billy was joking with him. I couldn't see the dude though.

Jesse was great!!! He was so so into the timpanis on Set the Controls. Crowd ate it up.

Soma is so so chilling. It's so cathartic. So glad that we'll be seeing that again tmrw night.

After show meeting was pretty much a bust, due to dude yelling and begging Billy to play "Rocket" tomorrow night, and also begging for guitar picks. Dude, you mean well (I think), but relax. I already told you at the first 3 Chicago shows that you cannot say that stuff and expect a good response.

SP MEDIA MILITIA, I'd love any extra picks, thanks! I'm 5* VIP tomorrow... see ya there?

Big thanks to Gio for the hookups tonight, as usual.
Hey John (I think thats your name?) thanks for the shout out, it was nice to meet you! This is megan btw... we ended up on the rail pretty much right across from Ginger. epic! I'm assuming you were more toward the center?

Show was AMAZING!!! Only my 3rd Pumpkins show so I dont have much to compare it to, but I don't see how they can get much better than that. Every minute of the 6 hours we spent freezing our asses off was totally worth it. So glad I got to see this one.

I have 3 tix in row Y... from a person from ITALY who could not attend the re-scheduled show tonight. I can let them go for under face, or maybe way under face... just want someone to use them.

If you PM me within the next 45 mins/hour I might see it, else... I guess I'll be trying to sell them outside the front door tonight.

I was actually gonna text you and ask if you wanted it. Of course I'm trying to sell it to get some of my 77 bucks back. I'm sure you can't blame me for that. But yeah, I'll give it another hour or so and if not we'll be rocking in row P. I'll text ya!

well it's a White Crosses show, so I don't see why someone would liveupdate (unless they play 1 or 2 non-WC songs)

Hey, just got back. (Thanks el_hemeno, hope you had a safe trip back!)

Nothing unusual from your normal white crosses show, except at the end someone (does anybody know who?) comes out in Billy's sun-god costume, followed by Billy in a black robe, and attended by a nun and a couple more people with masks wearing black robes and carrying a coffin with "SP" written on the lid. After a few minutes of anticipation, Billy opens the coffin and "Christmastime" starts playing. The coffin was full of presents and the band proceeded to throw them to the audience.

Oh, and Billy said this is the last show of the "Zeitgeist Era," so take that for what it's worth.

The show was great!

I didn't get any...lots of candy...I think somebody got a box of candy canes. I used up all my camera's memory on recording songs so I don't have any pictures or video. Someone will though.
