I was waiting for 11:30AM CST for ILAA phones to open so I could ask about the discount code (which I forgot to mention in my original post yesterday morning). They claim that if the website doesn't have a space for it, then it's not available for this show. I asked if it could be an oversight or error since all their other tour dates have it, but he said he didn't know. And he also couldn't apply it for me on the phone.

So I bit and got the 4* for $75 even. Ticketmaster is $59.46, so the 4* is a no brainer, especially since you also get the soundboard from livesmashingpumpkins.com. Now if the 15% discount code was available, total would've been $63.75, which is truly a steal.

I will not feel good about cutting all the non-VIP people, but at least there are a bunch of us on here with 4*. And I've put in plenty of hours (days) waiting in line over the years... I'll still show up somewhat early, most likely.

This show is gonna rock!

Yeah I still feel like I'm gonna show up a bit early too. Just to make sure I actually get in there first, haha.

jriordan, with you setting up the pizza chicago night with people and with you texting me (and probably many others) about the aragon show announcement, you should feel entitled to skip whatever line you please.

rickpat, im gonna call the aragon again tonight to ask how it works. someone should call ILAA again and ask them what the deal is too. Im at work so i cant call right now.

basically i think what we all need to do is
a. figure out how early we get to go in and make sure we dont have a line
b. plan for an afternoon in the area before hand for food, drinks, and general chicago/pumpkins love
c. all show up at the aragon like we're hot shit and walk by everybody with a "yeah we spent 15 bucks more than all of you suckers" look
d. rock out like its 199- (insert whatever pumpkins era year youd most like to rock out to, im going with 1994)

haha really? thats kind of cool.

anyone else notice how this date was added on like a week after Billy said on Q101:
Quote:
"one thing that escapes people too, like when we play "today", i remember playing 'today' at Aragon with 5000 people singing along....now its just a happy cheer, not that visceral 'omg that song is insanely good'"

if we don't react to the song correctly, BC may very well take his life at this performance.

The Frogs and the Aragon?

actually, waiting in line that long is part of my nostalgia factor for billy and the chicago concert scene growing up. the crowds that wait for him are full of either the nicest, truest fans ever, or the biggest weirdos on earth. ive met a lot of good people in that scenario.

but now, with my 4star vip power i get to laugh at those people as i walk past them in line! mwahahaha! im looking forward to going totally nuts with all you.
yea i saw a zwan show that was general admission, got there 20 minutes before and squeezed my way up to the front, and then i saw a TFE show in philly and got there a few hours before and also squeezed my way to the front. dont get me wrong though, im totally game for hanging out all day for billy, i'm just a pussy for cold weather! and i live in downtown chicago so i know what it's like.

If I remember correctly, I saw Matt pounding at the gong at the end of Superchrist too. May be wrong though. But yes, Matt was on all three acoustic songs.

i dont know you, but for the most part, people who show up 20 minutes before a show and force themselves to the front of the stage are jerkface asshats. however, people who are 4* VIPs such as myself are kickass motherfuckers who are better than anyone inline. let the festivities begin.

Frogs opening + Jam Productions press release about this supposedly being a new setlist bodes very well

However on the XRT contests page, it says it is a mix of Black Sunshine & White Crosses (just like any other "single city show" this tour). Hopefully they are wrong on that...

I'll not be expecting a 100% different show, but hopefully a few treats sprinkled in. I don't think they've forgotten how to play all the other songs they've done so far in 2007/2008.

Also, I emailed ILAA asking about the promo code. They said I could fax them my "membership confirmation" and they'd apply the discount code for me (which would make the ticket only $63!). But I'm not positive on this yet. On their website, there still is no spot for promo code for this particular show.

Anyone who wants VIP should buy ASAP because I'm sure it will sell out soon. Not surprised that TM isn't sold out yet... Hammond even took a while, and that was a smaller venue, and the first "Chicago area" show in 8 years. This one comes among 4 other Chicago shows, each with 3500 capacity. But it will sell out soon... after more people find out about it.

In the spirit of true fans, I would like to arrive around noon or before to at least establish some trust with everyone else in the "regular" line. But I'm not too worried... once we get in, we will all be real close. Even the rail at Aragon is 5-8 feet from the stage (on the sides), and about 20 feet away in the center (it sticks out in a weird "U"-shaped manner), so with that in mind, even the 5* VIP people will be constrained in their actual distance to the stage. And my friend told me that for Atlantic City (another GA show), the 5* people were let in first, followed by 4*, then everyone else.

i dont know why xrt says that, the press release was what they got before they posted the show, so i think they just made an assumption.

ILAA phone line is closed early today for Thanksgiving, and will re-open next Monday.

I have solid info from my friend who had 5* for Atlantic City that the 5* people were allowed in first, then the 4*, then the bourgeois (lol, joking, no offense). This is also what ILAA told me on the phone this morning.

ILAA seems to run a tight ship. But being the Aragon, I would not be surprised by anything. I've seen people be tackled and taken into back rooms for smoking or being suspected of having drugs. I attended a show where the will call line was so long that at least 500-1000 people missed the first half of the show (over 1 hour), because there were only 1 or 2 people working the will call window (whoever I asked blamed Ticketmaster, claiming that TM sends reps to work that based on the number of will call tickets sold -- I don't know if true or not).

For Zwan in May 2003, I supposedly won tickets and backstage passes by being caller 101 on Q101 (first and to date only major radio contest win -- I was pretty excited on the air). Well, I was indeed on the list and got in to the show, but was told that I had no backstage access. I don't know if that's Q101's or the venue's fault.
