Of course I wanted to see 'em score touchdowns on the last drives of the past two weeks, but as I expected, they found a way to screw things up as we've all witnessed so many times now.

While I'll admit that maybe screw-ups in past years can be blamed on the team as a whole, I really feel that Reid and McNabb are responsible for the losses so far this year. Whether it's a fumbled hand-off in the Dallas game, or poor play-calling in the last minutes of the Bears and Redskins games, those two bare the brunt of the responsibility for those failures.

Ya gotta be delusional right now to believe that this team is a playoff team, nevermind a Super Bowl caliber team. Before Sunday's game, we knew the Giants and Cowboys were better than us, and apparently now, so are the Redskins. Sorry guys, last time I checked four teams from one division cannot all make the playoffs.

I hate the Eagles but this is one of the sexiest posts I have ever read on Netphoria.

They've always had a tendency of lookin' great in the games they are expected to win (Rams, Lions, etc.), and even in big games against top competition they can look great in the first half, but in the second half and especially late in the 4th quarter trailing, Donovan cannot make the plays to win the game and Reid can't call 'em.

I must say, watchin' how the Eagles have lost in the past two games has had me laughing my ass off, mainly because the Phillies are doin' so well and I couldn't care less about the Eagles right now. It's much easier to listen to Andy explain how it's his fault and he's got to have a better game plan and Donovan complain about how he thinks this team is so much better than their record when I've still got a baseball team to cheer for.

GO PHILLIES!
I disagree entirely. This team is good, McNabb is the lone player left on this team that makes them still a threat to win, even with a 2-3 record.

I was referring to you how you said you could careless about the Eagles now that they have a losing record and instead now care about the Phillies more because they are in the Playoffs. Fairweather talk right there.

It'll certainly be an uphill climb for the Eagles to make the Playoffs with the hole they have dug themselves in this early in the season. But it's not like they have been getting blown out in the games they lost.

Against Dallas they lost by 4 points, and should have won that game.
Against the Bears they lost by 4 points, and should have won that game.
Against Washington they blew a 14 point lead and ended up losing by 6 points. I don't think they should have won though since the Redskins just flatout played better than them for the majority of the game.

If they escape San Fran with a win without Westbrook they will head into their bye 3-3. Arguably they will thus be done the toughest part of their schedule. If they can get their shit together during the bye week and get Westbrook, Curtis, and Abiamiri they will still have a shot. Championships and Playoff teams aren't determined in September. Again the odds are against them, but it's absolutely foolish to throw in the towel.

I'd be more interested in the Phillies even if the Eagles happened to be 5-0 at this point. It's frustrating to me that a lot of people in this town would still rather bide their time by making excuses for a team that might not even make the playoffs in the Eagles, rather than being thrilled about and supporting a team that's in the playoffs right now and kickin' ass thus far in the Phillies.

I know, I know, this is a "football town" and all, but we're talking about the early part of an Eagles regular season vs. Phillies playoff baseball. I'd rather get behind the team that's been bustin' their asses for over 6 months now and has the opportunity to do somethin' special than the team that's only 6 weeks into it's season and already making excuses for their underachieving play.

I sincerely hope that the Phillies don't win the world series. I wish they would move to a different city.

I hate to say it, but at this point, I'm agreeing with Chuck=Zero with the Phillies vs. Eagles discussion. I could careless about the Sixers and they've been the only team that has won in my lifetime... and I was like two years old when that happened. I'll never stop bleeding midnight green... don't let this seem like I'm "fairweathered", but right now, I'm more focused on the Phillies heading into the NLCS. I want to see the Phillies or Eagles win it all in my lifetime. I, like a lot of other people, had expectations that the Eagles would at least be the second strongest team in the NFC East... hell Dr. Z had them in the Super Bowl and each week that seems less and less likely

Pale Blue, you're also right. It's a team failing on multiple levels. I was a bit hasty in blaming Akers leg or Andy Reid's play calling. In the past, there always have been reasonable excuses to the failure... or at least something that I as a fan could accept... justified or not. This year has been almost as difficult to watch as the 2005 season after T.O. was jettisoned and McNabb went down. What's the answer to fixing the team after this year? What is left to improve? This team, minus lacking a true #1 receiver, should be solid at every position. Don't get wrong, I have't thrown in the towel, but I don't see any indication of this slide stopping. So they're probably going to bully San Francisco, Atlanta, Seattle, Cincinnati, and Cleveland the way they did with St. Louis. That's not enough to be the best in the NFL. That makes them barely above adequate.

There really is not one great team in the NFL right now. It's completely wide-open nearly halfway through the season.

So the NFL goes to the trouble of sending a showcase game to London- why the fuck am I forced to watch a Jets/Chiefs game, then? Makes no sense.

Great to have Westbrook back.

The officials this season though have been absolutely horrible though.

That was bullshit, they also had the horrible call that screwed the Falcons late in the game on the phantom muff punt.

Yeah, how the hell did they miss that one? I can see how from a certain angle it might look like he touched it after it bounced but the other four angles they showed made it clear he did not. Luckily they were out of time outs but that was still pretty ridiculous.

I'm glad someone else saw that. Even after the commentators pointed it out, no one I was watching with acted like it was a big deal.

Definitely not as bad as the call that sank the Falcons on the punt, but hey, I'll take it.

So you're not going to continue to claim that the Eagles are the "class of the NFL"?

There are great teams in the NFL, you just don't want to admit it because you've got huge boners for the Iggles.
