Question I Of The Mourning Chord Question - F7Madd11+

On all guitar tab websites for IOTM they use a chord called F7Madd11+
Anyone know what this is?

All will revealed when you hit the F7 key while playing Madden NFL Football 2011 (only on PC). It's maddening that Billy loves playing these games as he had us all breathlessly waiting for 2007 to fulfill the Pisces prophecy. In the meantime master the rest of the song and set your calender for August 2010 when the game will be released and your question will be answered.

i think that just means ad-lib. that chord is for the short buildup part before the first verse. the first bar is just regular Fm and possibly the second bar becomes F7.

it's an FMaj7#11, without the 3rd.. the add implies that there is no third in the chord.. this is the shape they use i believe..

--0--
--0--
--0--
--3--
--3--
--1--

so you have F (root), C (5th), G (the 9th), B (the #11), and E (the Major 7)

I of the morning could have used some fancy tech shit.

mayday said this

====Esty i feel really bad for you. I can't imagine what causes you to feel so bad about yourself that you have to behave the way that you do. Unless it's all about being a drama person for attention. does your mean spirited behavior really bring you happiness?===

I replied with

===I do it for the pussy. Chicks love pricks.===

That little shit deleted it. I can't believe it.

if you listen closely to the recording, this is the part that has tons and tons of chorus all over it

if you need some more ideas about how to play this passage, check out this performance of corgan playing it solo acoustic

correct me if i'm wrong, but iirc you keep the 3rd in added chords. it's suspended chords that replace the third. that's why it's an 11th rather than a 4th; you're adding a note to the top of the stack (i.e. in the chord's second octave), not replacing the third.

so an Fmaj7add#11 would contain the notes F, A, C, E, Bnat. easiest way to play: 133200. if it's an added 11th you don't include the 9th. the chord 133000 would be an Fmaj7sus2add#11

Yeah, in that song the chord is played 133200 - like an Fmaj but with the first finger on only the bottom E instead of barring all the strings. The G chord in the verses is played the same only two frets up 355400.

At least that's how I play it and it sounds perfect.
