What do you mean? Is this like Person A loses Person B and expects Person C to be nice to him or her? Or is it a case of Person A loses Person B and wants the leftover cash from Person B?

funeral costs?

when my aunt was on her death bed she accused my dad of owing her like $8,000 she lent him like 10 years ago. my dad doesn't remember nor is there any proof outside of her word, but being the guy he is and not wanting to argue with a dying person he agreed to pay it. isn't that messed up?

That's just stupid and greedy - I mean, what would she do with 8,000 bucks in heaven?

person A lost person B and expected person C to want something, because everyone else in person As family are a bunch of greedy bastards. but person C didn't want anything at all, and it never even crossed his mind. the fact that person A was being a dick out of nowhere about person C being "cooperative" or he "won't see shit" left person C sort of in shock, and more hurt about the situation than what the intial death of person B caused.

in a few words, my extended family are a bunch of redneck jerks.

the only thing that bothers me about when people die is how some families start going through all of the dead persons things right away before they are buried. my ex's family cleared out his entire grandpa's house as he was still laying in the funeral home and everyone fought over what they wanted.
in my family tradition we hold on to the things of the person who passed on, and a year later have a give away ceremony - giving away all their things to friends and other family.
we have big wakes too, that can last up to 3 days or more, depending.

i thought the thread title was alluding to say, the formation of a memorial charity.

inheritance money is nice to have and ok to inquire about but fucking selfish to be affected by the news of not getting.

i had a friend who killed himself, and a bunch of our other friends fought over his stuff. He'd loaned out a lot of expensive musical equipment; a marshall amp/cabinet, his les paul, a four track, a lot of other stuff. I don't know why his friends got it instead of his family. But anyway, it was disgusting to see them fighting over this stuff before the guy was even buried. Made me rethink who my friends were. I like your family's tradition of waiting a year. Very good way to show respect.

My husband's uncle died last year, and he was giving stuff away beforehand, as he knew he was dying. That was really sad.

my grandma's been working on her will for a while now. and she's got no health problems. whenever they work on it, it's depressing for everyone involved...but it's probably a better way to do it. :-/

people suck sometimes.

yeah. the first day is visitation/drumming ceremony
second day is a dinner for the family and another ceremony
third is the last ceremony and burial/cremation
later on - more food and usually people get extremely drunk at these
it's custom to bring the family food, liquor, tobacco, sage, etc.

I'm more pissed that the government thinks it has a right to your stuff when you die instead of your kids.
