if we're going to base an internet argument on anecdotal evidence we may as well not argue at all. I know people who lead normal lives that like to smoke every once in a while. But that's beside the point. If pot makes you a lazy slacker I'm guessing there are psychological issues prior that weed only exacerbates. Yeah, there are people who probably shouldn't smoke weed. I've done it a few times it didn't make my life worse. Probably made it better and more fun since it was already shitty to begin with.

I'm sure you also know people who smoke and their lives are going nowhere and they don't seem to connect the two and people who have never smoked and are still losers..
I never said everyone who smokes it a burnout loser.. and yes, maybe the ones who are burn outs might still be even if they didn't smoke.. If the people I know quit I think it might help them get their shit together and clear their head. You all seem to think I am blaming it on the pot, like it's the weed's fault.. Of course it's not ...it's the person who makes poor decisions for themselves in general, smoking pot being one

Are there many official studies that observes successful business men taking hits from their vaporizer every night and then records them maintaining productivity? If there is please show me I am open minded about this, but I don't really see that too often. I am not talking about once in a while, I know plenty of people like that, too. I am talking about people who smoke all the time... you know the difference. You smoking weed a couple of times is irrelevant to what we are talking about here.

well clearly any ''vice'' done in large amoutns is bad for you. are people who smoke weed everyday likely to be slackers because of it? yeah. are people who eat at mcdondalds everyday likely to be really fat? yeah. that much is obvious. i was only taking issue with putting the blame on the drug which eulogy already conveniently highlighted

i mean look at krazee, she smokes ev'ryday and she's a successful real estate agent and lives life to the fullest. but tehn theres her b/f mark who also smokes everyday and is obese and making minimum wage at a picture frame factory with no aspirations in sight, so it definiteyl goes both ways.

"weed is not a drug"
"i need it to relax me"

When in reality they waste they're already low income on eighths and sit around and watch t.v or whatever.. and it never occurs to them that they could be doing more productive things with their time.

At the bottom of that, I described what kind of people I am talking about, if you cant understand that then maybe you just havent met people like that. Not your little brother who hits the bowl with his friends, not your grandparents who smoke a joint after dinner. Burnouts, I have had conversations with people who just will not accept that maybe pot has a negative and not a positive effect on their lives...

do you know any succesful CEOs who rip fat bongs ev'ryday? i do. i smoke with them all the time. i have had conversation with people who just iwll not accept that pot has made them smarter and think creatively and allow them to get to the top of the game to become millionares.

you didn't articulate what you were trying to say nearly as well as you think you did.

and again, weed is most likely not the cause. and i know you said "maybe" but your entire point was based on the fact that it's a definite possibility. when in reality it's probably the person's general lack of motivation and not the pot that causes him to be a failure.

I know it isnt everyone, I don't know her so I don't know how successful she is, im trying to think of anyone I know right now who is successful and smoke regularly and I am sure there are, but I can't think of anyone right now. I do know that number is much smaller than people aren't .. this isn't just pot it's all drugs.. but with other drugs it's easier to realize it's a problem in your life because the side-effects and problems it causes in people's lives are much more obvious and happen more quickly than pot.. and with pot you usually don't have a rock bottom because it never gets that bad

So you are saying pot is a side-effect of the person just being unmotivated and irresponsible in general? That could be I didn't look at it like that, but you don't it makes it worse and if they owned up and stopped or cut down they might be better off?

not necessarily. there are unmotivated losers who don't smoke too. their "owning up" needs to involve a lifestyle change that would require a whole lot more aside from stopping smoking pot.

yes but for the people who do smoke (who are not all losers, since i seem to be portraying that i think that) I think quitting smoking would be one of the steps towards achieving that goal.

probably. but the positive effects of quitting would probably deal mostly with the time freed up and the money saved.

note: i am not an expert on heavy, long-term marijuana use. so if someone has something to legitimately dispute what i'm saying, go ahead.

right, but again, it's not the fault of the drug. if someone....baked cookies too often or something then his life could be improved by quitting baking.

Sounds like you might need to find some new friends...

(First off, I haven't read this whole thing yet and netphoria is making it difficult for me to do this at work)

I don't think I have more than maybe 2 or 3 friends that don't smoke pot every day. Not one of them is a loser. One is getting her masters in early childhood development (and actually has done work with studies involving women in Jamaica which are on the road to proving that smoking pot while pregnant may actually HELP the children). She works 2 jobs, one at a daycare and one at a bar for nights/weekends.

Another friend of mine just graduated from Columbia as a film major and is currently working on a few films/animations and has a job at Columbia now as like a student teacher person.

Another friend of mine also just graduated from Columbia as an event manager or something...she's got a full time office job.

My belly dance teacher smokes every day, she's super successful. "It's like eggs or milk or bread...something you just DON'T run out of" - her opinion on pot.

...you get the idea I hope.
