I think it upset him that they have not played chicago heh. Same thing with some of the haters on this board.

so WHY are all of you bitching and moaning as if he DID say these things? You're all fucking crazy, that's what you are. He said it won't be a record in the traditional sense, and that songs would be released individually, or as little blocks (like american gothic, i assume, which had a hard copy for those of you who don't want to download mp3s). Why don't you all just chill the fuck out before you have an aneurism. Why don't we wait and SEE what happens before we condemn these guys once again?
Skippy is right.

Personally I'm a fan of hard copies of songs. I don't want to download tracks unless they are otherwise completely unavailable. I don't have an IPod, or a Zune.

Hah. All I could think of when Jimmy mentioned 8-10 players was a big, robed clusterfuck convention of musicians on stage making exactly the same kind of music as the Polyphonic spree.

Remember when Billy was promoting TheFutureEmbrace and talked about how he was going to release more and more eccentric solo albums that had all sorts of different styles, and how he was only going to tour them in tiny clubs?

Well chances are we will not see it happen like we did not see Djali Zwan or the Chicago Songs but it is fun to talk about. Although I have to admit that if the album format is ditched, I'd be very upset. I'm in high school by the way.

breaking up, kicking jimmy out/recording adore with synth drums, not playing chicago yet, not recording/releasing gossamer, not playing STRTJ anymore after JImmy's hospital stint.........to name a few....

yea, rock was also dead, he's done everythign he can do with a guitar, the pumpkins broke up, the metro dvd, etc. etc. etc.

we know they are a fickle bunch that like to speak their mind, the result of which appears to be lots and lots of things with no follow-through. but instead of gettign upset with the broken "promises", i appreciate that they share honestly what they're thinking at any given moment, even if it doesn't end up sticking.

fickle, fickle, fickle....but honest when it comes to speaking their minds, for better or for worse.

I'm not sure what I think about there being 8 people on stage. Even 5 is pushing it sometimes. Unless they introduce a third guitar player Uli Jon Roth (that Rock Am Ring Gossamer was great from a guitarist viewpoint) style and add a string section. I wouldn't want there to be another percussionist since Jimmy alone is all I could dream for for the Pumpkins. Nor would I like another keyboardist like Silverchair had in their Diorama tour. I think Lisa is great, but I prefer a four-piece SP.

As far as the "no albums" thing goes, I think it might be a good idea. Finally we might hear the stuff Billy is pumped for a few months and then drops like those Church sessions and an instrumental band with Garson on board from way back. I'd be pumped to hear maybe an instrumental EP or a live jam type EP with Uli or someone. That'd be great. I'm expecting great things. Let that creative beast loose, Bill.

I am dissapointed with this news overall. I'd for one prefer to keep the album format.

I'll be quite happy if they release 5-6 songs at a time in a proper EP like zero or 1979 but if it is just a song here and there or an ep with 3-4 songs on then I don't think it'll work as well.

Rather than being limited in scope on an album as Jimmy said, I feel you cannot have a proper journey or explore an idea successfully in 3-4 songs.

So I'm hoping that these EPs turn out to be about 5-6 songs in length. Then I'll be happy.

Billy always over reacts when albums don't sell to his astronomical expectations. Listen to his bitching to the audience about the record company during the Berlin gig. How can someone so into Jesus give a damn about album sales? Maybe he'll start feeling that god has forsaken him and start writing better songs again.

SP and Radiohead are both still good. They're just judged by different metrics.

See one thing I really like about this idea is that they'll tour with their new EP, maybe switch up the song abit after touring it for awhile, and then re-record it with it's new format. I think that's kinda cool. We may get to see the pregression of Billy's work from demo=>final product.

they need to just stop with the weird production of things and just go back to t-shirts and ugly sweaters and just play good music. what the hell is wrong with that? it just might work.
