I'm meeting this guy later in the year. I'm still not 100% sure about what he is doing. Sure, technically it is an amazing achievement, costs a fortune,and is completely insane - but the images he is making are pretty average, and could be made on a medium format camera. I think most of this is about process fetishism, which is something I tend to rail against. This is what he wants to do in life though, so more power to him I guess

He frowned slightly, but generally he walks around with a scowl on his face. Because it is a long exposure (30 seconds) I try not to get the sitter to do anything that would make them strain, or be uncomfortable.

i've only been taking photos for three years. i messed around with some non-music stuff a bit for a for the first few months, but once i started getting into live music photography i haven't really shot anything else. i'd like to branch out more, though. and probably will some day.

Thanks for sharing those - nice variety of shots. I like the wrestler in particular - nicely composed/well observed. I've never tried the death of a light bulb image - I've seen the tutorial but never attempted it. I probably need to brush up on the technical stuff.

thanks. what i did for the light bulb shot was smash the bulb making sure the filament stayed intact, prefocused the camera on a tripod, turned off all the lights so i was shooting in total darkness, flipped the switch, then snapped the shot. all light in the photo is from the burning up of the filament.

yeah, i agree. i should really should widdle down the set. i usually only keep about a third that many images, making sure they are unique. i don't know why i didn't do the same thing this time.
