Mostly shooting fish in a barrel. I gave it up years ago as it wasn't rewarding or challenging. The only challenge was working with/against the venues lights and the occasional stroppy musician.

I rarely see any contemporary stuff that I find even remotely interesting.

i understand this sentiment. it's challenging to me because i'm pretty hard on myself. i don't think i've taken a single picture that i am completely happy with, so i'm always striving to do better.

Yep, it's hardest for gig photographers - you need to go that extra mile to get images which connect with the viewer. You also have to be a ruthless editor. My comment wasn't a dig at you in any shape or form btw.

i know what you mean, i don't really care about it anymore either. it's nearly always the same, just different faces. especially with the festivals, where you shoot somewhere between 30 and 40 bands a weekend, everything is a repeat.

i find concert photography repulsive in general, mostly out of ideology .

it's a major part of an industry that has so much to do with very stupid over glorification of human beings who happen to play music for a living, and one that damages the balance between actual talent and skill, and image.
