Arrow Two questions.

So a friend of my new roommate brought me a ton of old Pumpkins CDs he doesn't need anymore. Gish, SD, PI, MCIS, Adore, Machina and Earphoria - nothing special, I owned them already. He also gave me some singles - one of them being a very strange looking 'Thirty-Three'.

Question #01: Is this the standard single edition of 33? I honestly have no idea.

He also gave me an original of Lull [Caroline Recs], some gig in Lisbon '98 called Radio Love Transmission, and a CD called Ultra Rare Trax, featuring some songs I've never heard before ['Purr Snickety', 'Bullet Train To Osaka', 'Terrapin', 'Delusions Of Candor', 'Isolation' [apparently a Joy Division cover], 'Jackie Blue'].

Question #02: Is any of this... well, rare?

there are two uk singles for thirty-three, with different tracklists. looks like you got the second one.

more info here:
uk 1/2: http://www.spfreaks.com/Default.aspx...TAILS&item=162
uk 2/2: http://www.spfreaks.com/Default.aspx...TAILS&item=163

note that more singles for thirty-three exist, but they all look like the uk 1/2 single:
dutch 6-track: http://www.spfreaks.com/Default.aspx...TAILS&item=220
us 4-track: http://www.spfreaks.com/Default.aspx...TAILS&item=312
the one from the tafh box: http://www.spfreaks.com/Default.aspx...TAILS&item=470

a promo that combines the cover of uk 1/2 with the cd of uk 2/2: http://www.spfreaks.com/Default.aspx...TAILS&item=159

lull is nice, but not really rare.

radio love transmission and ultra rare trax are just bootlegs. worthless, in my opinion, but they might be worth something on ebay.

I'll spare the holier than thou attitude and just ask DIDN'T YOU LOVE BULLET TRAIN??!!!

I first heard that around '97 from some website that streamed rare SP in RealAudio format. Anyone remember this site? It had a white background is about all I remember. The title might've been something like "SP radio", I dunno.

I so remember that site. It was in my opinion one of the big thre pumpkins sites back then. You had

Chris & Shyla's site - The one you mentiond
Luna - Agnews Old site
Smashing-Pumpkins.net - Visual Discography was real nice

Hmm those were the days.

I actually owned 'Purr Snickety', 'Bullet Train To Osaka' and 'Delusions Of Candor' before.

And what does my post count have to do with my Pumpkins collection?

oh it has everything to do with it. 99.9% of people with your post count have heard those songs.

Pretty sure someone put together an mp3 collection of what was featured on SP radio. I don't *think* any of it was super rare. If it was... it was the performances, not the songs, that were rare. I remember being slightly unimpressed with the download.

Most people assume if you rack up thousands of posts on a fansite, that you would know much about the object of that fandom, in this case Smashing Pumpkins.
