Default Computer question

I know I saw a utility once that tells you what is plugged in to each of your AGP/PCI slots and which ones are open. Anyone....anyone...

And yes, I know the "open the fucking box with a screwdriver" utility works well. I'm trying to avoid that.

Question

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...2113959AACf2dF

Quote:
hi mike, theres a utility called "sisift sandra lite" from http://www.sisoftware.net/index.html...en&a=,download... this and after installing it run the program and locate the hardware tab, then go to the motherboard section
in there you will get all the information you need on your motherboard and also the graphics interface on your p.c
most modern p.c,s will be either a.g.p or pci-express,however you will find this out using this program
also you can also find out the slots version aswell, for example in the case of agp, theres a few different types of agp slots including 1.5v and 3.0v and also different versions like version 2.0 and version 3.0,all this is crucial when purchasing a new graphic card
also even when you have intergrated(onboard)graphics, you can find out info on this aswell, and some of the latest intergrated graphics are quite powerful these days, for example the radeon xpress1250 has a core clock of 530mhz and a 700mhz(1400mhz effective)memory clock, and a pixel and shader model 2.0,these for a onboard graphics solution are pretty impressive and is capable of playing some modern games
once you have established your graphics interface,if you need any further advice on a future upgrade do not hesitate to contact me
hope this has helped
good luck mike!
.
