i just today checked out the setlist at sp.com and man they've brought out some gems. i love this band live and can't wait for them to return to the US to see these old songs again. to think billy corgan is out of touch with his fan base doesn't ring true with the songs he's revieved IMHO. maybe its just me. i thought i was spoiled with the songs they played in Oct.

I think there's a big difference with being out of touch with his "fan- base" and being out of touch with rock fans/concert-goers in general. The new Euro setlists are a huge step in the right direction though.

I'm going to go ahead and say it: I don't think the pumpkins put on a good show anymore. Well that may be too harsh; it's good but not amazing. These tours feel too much like a reunion as opposed to a new album tour. There seems to be something missing whether it's thematic continuity or even a stylistic influence that defining magic (whatever it may be) is gone. Maybe it IS because he's pulling too many fan-favorite songs out of the back-catalogue. In past tours they would or would not play certain songs because they did or didn't fit into the present idea/style and now it seems like they'll play any ol' thing because it doesn't matter anymore.

I think Billy & Co. are slowly gaining that said magic again though...I just think this tour overall is nothing but an uphill struggle to reconnect and I like to look at it as training. Again, the new Euro sets are getting close to "that ol' mojo" & I would rather have them ride that wave into writing new songs for a new album as opposed to coming back to the good 'ol USA. For example; I think in a year Billy is going to look at the song USA and cringe and I doubt it will ever be played again outside of this album's tour.
