I think some people do actually label themselves as racists. But that aside, how many of those that dont support reform would you say do so because of race. Ballpark, how many out of 10.

if obamacare is going to be such a disaster then why don't conservatives just let it pass so obama & co. can be voted out?

I dont think its so much about letting it pass, they cant actually block it, can they? I think repubs are just using this to fire up their side and strip aways idiots with the whole socialism stuff. This is purely a democratic fuck up, repubs are just exploiting it.

thing is there's nothing to the opposition other than NO IT'S BAD

there's no counter-proposal or anything it's just madness. it'll be really pathetic if nothing happens because of all this, the system is in desperate need of reform and only one group has any kind of idea of what to do about it for good or ill. this isn't how democracy is supposed to work, but this is how democracy works. Really worthless.

what really irks me is republicans had a six year window to pull off healthcare reform by their own terms but didn't do shit.

and now it's the apocalypse because somebody is finally doing something about it?

I think they may actually succeed in breaking him.

Dems need to reach an agreement with "Blue Dogs" who may as well call themselves Republican half the time. Democrats will have to win back some independent support. And they will need to run a vote through the House and Senate by the end of the year.

If they can't accomplish this, it drifts into next year, an election year. If it doesn't get resolved by the middle of next year, Congress will probably have to pull the plug knowing they will otherwise be putting critical seats at risk.

Obama on health care:
Quote:
There can always be private competition. Look at FexEx and UPS. They're doing fine. It's always the Post Office that's having the problems.
Christ, so great idea dude, let's have the government compete with private business with a shitty fucking business model and force everyone to pay for it

no but it would be nice if someone else had an idea

but they don't so nothing gets done. just another thing on the list of reasons why america is going to turn into absolute shit in my lifetime

it's all about who has control, who drives the ship, not about you have a well reasoned view point, i have a well reasoned view point, we have a problem, lets work together. no, it's about WHO'S RUNNIN THANGS. And everyone approaches their position like it was a religion.

it would be also nice if it wasn't about pleasing certain interest groups rather than actually trying to figure things out

or if this wasn't really about breaking obama for the glory of the GOP. solving problems isn't important it's about power

and if it wasn't piloted by exploitative fearmongering news agencies and talk radio

it would be even nicer if the opposition didn't resort to a misinformation campaign to discredit the advocates

whole thing sucks, i remember now why i stopped voting

america = shit

any tips on how to immigrate to the netherlands

We agree with President Obama on the importance of prevention. However, a recent example used to illustrate his important point was misleading. Surgeons are not paid $30,000 to $50,000 to amputate a diabetic’s foot. Medicare pays a surgeon, on average, from $541.72 to $708.71 for one of two procedures involving a foot amputation. It is possible that the total bill, hospital stay, rehabilitation, prosthesis, etc. may approach the larger amount mentioned.

In the case of tonsillectomies, a patient is referred to a surgeon after medication therapy has proven to be ineffective. Actually, the medical profession itself recognized questions about utilization and appropriateness of tonsillectomies and took action by developing clinical guidelines, which has resulted in a sharp decline in the rate of tonsillectomies.

These types of examples create the impression that physicians are motivated by payment levels rather than what is best for patients. The AMA will continue to stress to our elected leaders that physicians are dedicated to putting patients first and optimizing health care quality.

This comes on the heels of his swapping "The AARP supports health care reform" for "The AARP supports my plan!"

It's beginning to sound like President Obama is stretching the truth far too far, if not just fabricating arguments [i.e. 44 million currently un-insured (who cannot get insurance), deficit-neutral, 4% economic growth factored into his projections, etc.].
