OMG IT IS EVEN IN APPROVAL RATING SOUND RED ALERT
I read your article Starla, and I said so in my post. Idiocy. He literally can't close the prison. Keep talking and see if you can further bend the walls of reality. |

I'm pretty much done with you insulting me. I have optic neuritis. I tend to miss parts of things when I don't really focus (and it's been a long day at work). That's the reason why I tend to miss things at times while reading. It has nothing to do with my intelligence level, but hey, go on and continue to be nasty and rude here. I've been nothing but patient with you. You are either trolling this fake rage, or you're really acting like a jerk here. Either way just stop posting anything to me. It's pointless now.

If I ever miss something in a post, just point it out to me without being an asshole about it. I deal with my vision acting up from time to time. I don't want sympathy, it's just why I sometimes miss some stuff. I just hate discussing it.

I don't think he really wants it to be closed. He signed a bill a couple of years ago, can't remember it now... which put restrictions on transferring prisoners to the mainland and other countries which delayed the prison being closed.

I'm not going to flip out on you like bad hair RBG does. but you're wrong. The obama administration was prepared to move every one of the residents of Gitmo and was on it's way to doing it when hardliners (mostly from the GOP) made a stink about it in Congress.
I think your position, that it be closed, is spot on. But you put way too much blame on one of the people in Washington that really do wants it closed. What do you want him to do, shut the government down until the Hawks in Congress write a law that does away with it? |

The relevant law is the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 (NDAA). This statute confirms the president’s power to wage war against al-Qaida and its associates, which was initially given to him in the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) passed shortly after 9/11. The NDAA also authorizes the president to detain enemy combatants, and bans him from transferring Guantanamo detainees to American soil. The NDAA does not, however, ban the president from releasing detainees. Section 1028 authorizes him to release them to foreign countries that will accept them—the problem is that most countries won’t, and others, like Yemen, where about 90 of the 166 detainees are from, can’t guarantee that they will maintain control over detainees, as required by the law. There is another section of the NDAA, however, which has been overlooked. In section 1021(a), Congress “affirms” the authority of the U.S. armed forces under the AUMF to detain members of al-Qaida and affiliated groups “pending disposition under the law of war.” Section 1021(c)(1) further provides that “disposition under the law of war” includes “Detention under the law of war without trial until the end of the hostilities authorized by” the AUMF. Thus, when hostilities end, the detainees may be released. The president has the power to end the hostilities with al-Qaida—simply by declaring their end. http://www.slate.com/articles/news_a..._wants_to.html |

I just want to see their suffering end. Give them a trial, sort it out, do something... rather than hold them indefinitely, force feed them, then torture them some more.
