pixar has become the byword for the whole genre. there's no real difference in the content of the films regardless of who makes them

and most of them are still pixar

the dreamworld cgi movies are waaaaaaay below the quality of the pixar movies

pixar characters never talk to humans either

and really aside from maybe the incredibles, that black guy substitute thing is pretty stupid

Nah, that's like saying Disney was solely responsible for that slew of awful 2D animated films in the mid-90s after the success of The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast.

Isle makes a total ass of himself once again, surprise surprise.

And yes I was serious about the Incredibles, it's probably in my top 5 animated films of all time. Any other board i wouldn't even have to defend that. Oh and I forgot Ratatouille, I'd put that at #3 behind Nemo, probably the best food movie ever made.

i agree that pixar is not an all encompassing term for computer animated movies, it is a shame if people think they are watching a pixar movie when it is a shitty dreamworks movie. Pixar's quality is much higher. I personally liked the incredibles and loved ratatouille, but i like brad bird, i also like his movie the iron giant.

I also love Pixar's short movies, i.e. the one with the alien abduction exam.

Seriously, don't. Finding Nemo is by far the worst animated movie of the last few years, IMO.

Hahaha, thanks for reminding me about that one. SO bad!!! Ferngully is pretty goddamn awful, too.

There were a TON of shit animated movies in the 90s, thanks to the Disney revival, but none of those movies were even in the same league as Disney, just like most of the 3D films coming out now from Dreamworks/Sony/Fox Studios aren't in the same league as Pixar. Right now it just seems to be the "hip" thing to make horribly scripted 3D movies cashing in on celebrity names an pop culture jokes.

i don't really hate these movies. but they're so formulaic and embarassingly predictable. pretty soon the creators will run out personifiable objects/species to give zany voiceovers and put in ludicrous situations. the overall productions are great but the screenwriting potential is just so limited if you ask me.

the first time i watched toy story i got so amazingly into it

fuck that every time i watch that fucking movie. they all make me so happy.

isle you'd seem more credible with your formulaic crap if the formulas you presented in this thread actually corresponded to the movies you were trying to bash

next time we'll make sure to kill woody at the end to teach the kids what happens in real life
