What Julie said plus avoiding bad food choices by bringing your lunch to work if possible. Even learning how to cook a few nutritious meals for dinner so you do not fall back on crap like hot pockets easily just because it's convenient can help keep you headed in the right direction as well.

my favorite vegetable to eat is broccoli rabe, sauteed with garlic and oil and with a few halved cherry tomatoes. yummy. it's an aquired taste but i find it soooooo goood.

also you could try the sacred heart medical diet soup made of veggies and chicken broth but if you are non meat maybe you can use veg broth. it's a great soup and will definately help you lose weight if you follow the diet

I justify eating meat because i can, and have killed and prepared animals that i have eaten. They were delicious, and good for me. All power to those people who are veggies, but i could never live with one, the ones i know suffer awful gastric problems, are as weak as kittens and are very sanctimonious.

Eating meat is actually a good way to lose fat healthily, high protein lean meats actually allow you to feel full, while still being able to convert the fat into muscle, or lose it all together. Lean smoked ham and white meat make this really easy to do. It is actually high carb food like bread and potatoes which take ages to be broken down which are the problems for you.

i managed to cut red meat out of my diet and don't really miss it all that much. i've been making anything that calls for ground beef with ground turkey and it turns out pretty darn good. last night for dinner i made 'drunken shepherd's pie'. omg.

and morning star farms veggie burgers are amazing. they actually serve those at burger king.

good call trying to remove junk from the diet. it's super hard. but try throwing in some light exercising and that'll help a lot too.

btw best thing you can do for yourself is cut out soda, eat nuts throughout the day as snacks, eat 3 reasonable meals (~500 - 600 calories each at most) and at a minimum go out and walk around the block for 30 minutes, i guarantee you will lose 10 - 15 lbs in 6 weeks. and that is not even working out hard or dieting. if you eat healthier and add some weight training you will lose more.

I actually don't drink much soda, but i do drink things that are nearly as bad. I usually get lemonade from fountain drinks if geting fast food. I do have a big energy drink daily and drink Gatorade nearly every day. Fast food and pizza calzones are what i opt for. Lately i have been eating lunchables, which aren't THAT bad, but seeing as how im looking to rid myself of meat eating, i will need more choices. I don't eat fruit much at all, nor do i vegetables. That is going to change, however.

ziplock has this new steamer bag, it is really easy to use, it has directions on it... you just put in whatever veggies you want, (frozen or raw) and stick it in the microwave and those veggies come out goooooddddd.... what i usually do is something like this - put in some frozen broccoli, a little ground pepper, and a tad bit of salsa so that the flavor steams into the veggies, and it comes out great, and is super easy to make.

unless you are an athlete and/or are exercising gatorade really isn't good for you.

like i said above, the easiest healthiest snack is nuts, just get a bottle of mixed nuts or even better almonds - they are filling and good for you, just eating a handful ~ 20 will totally fill you up for 2 hours or so.

if you decide to eat pasta, go get whole wheat pasta - it tastes great and is alot better for you than the regular pasta.

not all vegetarians do it for ethical/moral reasons. some people just don't like to eat meat or it doesn't agree well with their digestive system.

Im replacing my usual gatorade and energy drink fix with Fiji water.

And for Veggies, Im not too big on most cooked veggies. I do like uncooked tho. Im gonna stock up on carrots, celery and broccoli and munch on those with ranch or something. I also plan to eat breaded meat substitutes, but not quite as much as its not necessarily super healthy. I'll be hanging around the produce area more often.

ummm there are some meats that are good for you

like fish and chicken( if not cooked in a pan of oil obviously)

is fish really considered a meat?

mmmmmmmm fish is so delicious

also I would work less on finding meat substitutes and start trying to develop a taste for vegetables. I used to hate them as well. They say you lose a lot of your taste buds as you get older so you might find yourself starting to like somethings you thought were nasty before but really it's just becasue cant taste things anymore

thats probably not the case but I like to think it is

and screw exercise for now. man that is too much to focus on at oen time and you are ultimately going to fail if you put too much on your plate. small steps.

i agree with the other that morning star farms spicy black bean burgers are awesome.

other veggie burger tips i've discovered are that
#1 some have twice as many calories as others but aren't necessarily any tastier or any more filling, so watch out
#2 finding a good brand of whole wheat buns with as much fiber as you can find is another good way to make them tasty and healty
#3 the 2% milk lowfat cheese is actually pretty good (but is sort of hard to find down here in houston, depending upon which groceries you shop at).
#4 getting a jar of roasted red peppers is a good way to ass extra flavor to a veggie burger. sauteeing onions is another option, too.
#5 the true beauty of the veggie burger is how fucking easy they are to make.

i found this online a while back and have found the tips to be pretty great:

I don't want to eat animals anymore.

I never said anything about exercise. I know i can' do that. I am way too lazy on days off and busy with work on others to bother with exercising. I'm looking to eat better. I want to eat meat substitutes as well as eat veggies and fruits. The meat substitutes are on occasion or balanced well with other foods. My lunches at work will be Veggie orientated, mainly. Im also going to use that site Susie posted, so i can start cooking for myself. One of the hardest things for me is cooking, mainly because i can't be bothered to stand up for 20min or more and cook food after a long ass, and usually tiring, day at work.

you won't eat chicken breast, but ranch is ok?

you need to rethink this diet
